Please could somebody confirm this … with Platform set to Heiken-Ashi Bars, an Alert does not sound realtime, but instead the Alert sounds 1 bar late, i.e. the next bar after the Alert Price Level is hit!
Of course this is useless if one is using Alerts on manual trading (as I do), Setting an Alert on a 5 min Heiken-Ashi Bar for a price level to be crossed, means that it may be – at worst – 5 minutes later when we hear the Alert.
Works okay with Platform set to normal Candlesticks (i.e. NOT HeikenAshi).
Very weird Issue … one would think that Alert Sound should have nothing to do with whatever Bars one is using … the Alerts should trigger on the mid price.
So if somebody could confirm above please … in case the Tariff jitters have sent me mad! 😉
Try on 1 min TF with Alerts set close to price so that you are not waiting too long.
04/11/2025 at 11:18 AM #245795Hey GraHal,
Right after reading your post it slips to my mind that Heikin Ashi will work with a delay by nature. They need the data from the previous bar too. And although I have no experience with them, with this hunch Google tells me that Heikin Ashi bars are lagging by nature.
So the later alarm should be correct, I guess.2 users thanked author for this post.
04/11/2025 at 11:40 AM #245796Thank you Peter, sounds logical in one way, but surely if my Alert is set at Price < xyz then that is what should trigger the Alert … price < mid price XYZ … irrespective of what is shown on the screen, be it Heikin-Ashi, Histogram etc.
I always show the Bid-Ask Band; I can see it pass my Alert line, but I get no audible Alert until the start of the next bar.
Seems to be the code / algo behind the Alert is not correct?
If I get chance I will do a video and send direct to PRT.
04/11/2025 at 11:54 AM #245797But did you check the price undercrossing xyz with a normal bar ? Thus, in another chart in parallel ? I think it can be so that there the current bar does not under cross xyz at that same moment.
Of course it is also a technical thing. Thus, sure, if you see the price crossing with a Heikin Ashi bar, it should also be possible to trigger the alarm (matter of making the code accordingly by PRT). But didn’t we hear about Heikin Asii bars not being able to use with Autotrading ? Of course, because how to “set” that in/on behalf of your code. But still … It would never match anything at the Broker’s or Exchange. And thus whatever you’d want to do with it, it would be possible false alarm. Now you only have late alarm (or no alarm).Anyway interesting; let us know what you further find.
04/11/2025 at 12:32 PM #245799Even worse … works correctly in RealTime with Heiken-Ashi Bars on Demo Account!!!
Currently I only have 1 Chart open at a time (when manual trading) so Alert it not being ‘corrupted / confused’ by another Chart etc.
Right … back to trying to do a recording on Live Account … in between manual trades!
04/11/2025 at 2:00 PM #24580104/11/2025 at 2:08 PM #245802Even worse! 🙂
On Live:
Using Heiken-Ashi bars, when mid price (observed using Bid-Ask Band) crosses over / under the Alert line, no Alert is seen or heard! We could be sitting there for 5 mins (or even 1 hour if Alert set on a 1 hour bar) oblivious price had crossed our Alert level!!When the next bar opens / shows (could be 1 hour later, see above!) the Alert bell icon THEN appears under the correct previous / last bar (bar where price crossed Alert line) and the Audible Alert is also sounded … but NOTE: Bell icon and Audible Alert do not appear until the next bar shows AFTER Price level is crossed!!!
Above is on Live Account!!
Hope above is not confusing, just say if it is?
04/11/2025 at 2:25 PM #24580304/11/2025 at 2:27 PM #245804It’s even worse than I thought!!
- If price crosses Alert Line during the bar the Alert was set on, then all is ghood in Realtime (is that what you are seeing JS?).
2. When price crosses Alert Line several bars later than the bar the Alert was set on, that is when the scenario occurs which I describe in my post here …
Bell icon and Audible Alert do not appear until the next bar shows AFTER Price level is crossed!!!
04/11/2025 at 2:47 PM #24580504/11/2025 at 5:10 PM #245809The video on the link below shows the Alerts being placed on the red bar (call it bar 1).
6 bars later (call it bar 7) the Bid-Ask Band crosses over the Alert Line several times on bar 7, but no bell icon shows or Audible Alert is heard until the next bar (call it bar 8) shows.
The Alert bell icon appears against bar 7, but only after bar 8 has opened.
Audible Alert is heard, but only after bar 8 has opened.Move the video on to 6 minutes to save you time watching all through.

04/11/2025 at 5:40 PM #245813What I see in the video is that the “alert” is triggered by the “Close” of the Heikin-Ashi bar and that’s how the alert is set, on the price (close) of the (Heikin-Ashi) bar…
Your alert is not set to be triggered by the “Bid-Ask Band”…
04/11/2025 at 5:56 PM #245814alert is not set to be triggered by the “Bid-Ask Band”…
Attached is the Alert setting window; the criteria is Price >= Value (i.e. the Alert line).
I showed the Bid-Ask Band (in the video) as a convenient way to see Price crossing the Alert Line.
In attached you can see that I have enabled ‘realtime’ … meaning the instant that Price crosses the Alert Line … not at the opening of the next bar.
There is also an Alert setting option for ‘current bar close’ but I did not select that option.
