IG’s platform was down from 10:49 – 11:49 (UTC +1)
You have to phone them to close/open any trades when this happens.
The last time any Autotrading was disabled due to the outage.
If any of your targets, TP/SL/TS/etc, did not trigger due to this outage IG will correct it for you at the right price. Phone them or email them.NOTE: Sorry to tell you this but If you did any backtesting during these hours you will have to do it again. Your results are corrupted when this happens.
I find it hard to believe that with the technology available that a platform and broker worth many Millions can be offline for an hour.! (the rest of my thoughts on this I will have to keep to myself…)
09/19/2017 at 11:27 AM #46587I just tried. Login to live account was successful, but when changing to DEMO ” received an “unexpected error”, and was advised to contact customer service. I’ll try later.

At least this way I can create some sort of warning notification if this happens again.
Thank you very much.

The IG platform was available on mobile throughout the downtime. So the situation was still kind of normal.
I mean we have to accept it as a fact that a broker like IG can go down (completely), in an Equifax scenario.

This is also a possible reason for getting bad execution prices, for example when the platform does not respond during high volatility events.
And this does happen every once in a while. During Brexit I couldn’t log-in for 15 minutes, which felt like hours.
