what of these ‘external sources’ that closed the trade/strategy…?!
I’ve only had this when I have stopped manually via the IG Interface on my PC or Mob. (or a direct stop via the Auto-System running window? Not sure, I’d have to do a test on this one?)
Vonasi has had occasions when IG stopped the wrong Systems after he asked them to stop particular ones he wanted.
Hey here’s something … a month or so back I got an email saying they IG would be stopping all Systems started before a certain date (for a good reason re server change). In the event, the recent System crash stopped all the ones I had that fell under the IG date restriction so it didn’t affect me, but maybe the axe is now falling on some of your well old Systems??
10/09/2018 at 1:46 PM #82364(I did reply to your question GraHal but just coming back on here can see there is no reply – was referring to the attachment in previous post about external source affecting the trade aka manually editing/closing the trade in IG Dashboard and yes I know about that/have done it before but on this occasion where everything froze up/stuck stopping I had not done anything in the dashboard… anyway…)
Just got off the phone with Christi – very decent bloke very frank and thorough conversation no red faces 😉 – bottom line is along the line of things can definitely be improved with the ticketing system/client communication and that basically there are issues (as to be expected) between IG and ITF in determining where any particular issue is occurring and… well… it is challenging… but although intentions are good in that regard with recent ESMA changes coming into force it has been all hands to the pump at IG in that direction so some things have had to take a back seat – I am fine with and understand that and see that as good honesty and gives me more faith than anything negative
Was lots more discussed but that is it in a nutshell however I also suggested in terms of trying to take things forward they (IG and even ITF) fire up IG PRT and chuck in some strategies and see for themselves the errors that we encounter and get one step ahead of the game and I think this may start happening – I offered any number of strategies they might want to experiment with but first up I suggested they try Vonasis’ beyond simple daily strategy that is not working so perhaps there will be some news for you soon Vonasi…

Thanks – but I will still keep counting the days. It is like counting stitches when knitting. Very therapeutic.
10/18/2018 at 5:13 AM #83029Opened IG AUS Demo PRT today – 23 out of 25 strategies stopped ‘Broker could not confirm status of order’ – restarted them all (yes it is a drag… scroll down…jumps up… scroll down… jump up…scroll down… start….) which all restarted but minutes later one by one they are all crashing out and getting stuck in the stopping purgatory and those that have made it through giving same message about broker – and the platform has slowed to a crawl/unusable – killed it in task manager and reopened but still very slow and am waiting for those strategies that are stuck to finally error out
Opened up IG UK Demo PRT – ‘only’ half a dozen strategies had stopped most with broker error but one with ‘external source modified the order’ – I haven’t touched anything in the IG dashboard re: these orders – platform is running smoothly otherwise/is usable
Anyway am just saying/keeping a log of how often this is happening and with it being a mixture of strategies (although essentially quite similar/variations on a theme) and different time frames (most on 1 second but others on 1 min and 15 mins) do not know if it is my strategies that are causing things to lock up or what is going on…
10/18/2018 at 6:19 AM #83032Just seen in the IG AUS dashboard that I’ve 100’s (1000’s?) of limit orders trying to be placed… trying to delete them to no avail… some are new strategies I fired up yesterday and they seemed to be running ok for a few hours but then things messed up over night and some have been running seemingly fine since 12th October… I can accept this might somehow be to do with my strategies rather than PRT… dunno… contacting IG chat now to see if can get sorted (blimey IG’s ‘international’/out of hours support is pretty dire… despite explaining my issue so far I have been told to restart my browser or use another browser… talk about awful canned support response….)
On the Phone now and IG have accepted there is something not right and have managed to get through to technical who have closed off (all but one/still trying to fight against all the limit orders being placed – running fine otherwise since 12th Oct) my strategies – wanted to talk to technical support rather than the incredibly poor first line (really they seem to know very little about anything!) and was told the one (yes ONE!) technical support person in IT AUS is very busy with other stuff right now and I will have to wait until UK/SA come online
This is appalling service from an international broker but the general response has been that they would need a report sending in from PRT but that it is to do with the 1 second TF – then why is the 1 second TF allowed and how has the 12th Oct strategies been running fine up until last night? My strategy is basically placing a buy and sell limit order at the top and bottom of a range and sitting there waiting for one to trigger and then (due to the 1s TF) the other limit order is no longer being placed as the strategy is now onmarket so ‘almost’ a OCO order (how this is achievable in say a 1 hour TF I do not know as the LIMIT orders are GTC so if one triggers mid hour the other order still sits there until the hour is up…)
10/19/2018 at 4:29 PM #83190Appreciate am pretty much talking to myself here as it seems no others were particularly affected but a few choice snippets from replies so far from IG about what happened->
“There was a demo release last night that would have affected pricing, trading etc. temporarily.”
Things went proper crazy with my strategies for quite some time not temporarily – I guess this was the daily orders not working getting fixed update – that’s great of course but why midweek when have waited upwards of 3 months?
“The demo release lasted 2 minutes late last night i.e. when most people on demo will not be trading.”
ummmm….. bit speechless on that one to be honest I guess IG don’t think any of their clients are auto trading then?
“the issue is again related to using a 1s timeframe resulting in a lag between the sending and receiving of requests between your PRT, IG and ITF” and “so it could possibly be due to your network”
Bit lost on this one – yes yes the 1second TF (why is it allowed in PRT then if it does not work! and yes I have moved up to 5second TF but reckon will still have same issues) but what of my network connection/have I missed something? I thought when we set a strategy running we are doing that effectively on the PRT server which has nothing to do with my network speed/connectivity – obviously it will still run even when I close PRT so why is my network being mentioned as a possible cause?

Looks like IG Support haven’t got their head around your problems are experienced during Auto-Trading?
The comment from IG seems more related to manual trading?
(PS You’re not talking to yourself Max!
It’s a pity we’ve not got a views counter on this website? I similarly often feel like I talk to myself a lot on here! 🙂 )1 user thanked author for this post.
