Hi,
I was wondering how is it possible to have different indicator setting in different instrument. Currently it appears that changing the setting in an indicator changes this setting in all charts. For example, changing EURUSD MACD setting changes, mACD setting across all instruments.
I would have thought that these settings should be independent of instrument or time-frame allowing different settings for indicators in different timeframe as well as different instrument. Not sure if i have done something wrong but changing setting for indicator in one instrument should not change it in other places. Any suggestion. thanks

11/06/2019 at 8:50 AM #112245Why not just create your own individual custom indicators that recreate the original indicator? You can have MACD1, MACD2, MACD3 then all with different settings so if you change the settings in MACD1 then MACD2 and 3 will not be effected. You can do this either by hard coding each indicator or just using CALL to call the original indicator with different settings.
11/06/2019 at 8:58 AM #112246Yes, but this won’t allow you to change instrument on the same chart with different settings.
You only have one chart and whenever you change instrument your MACD needs to be updated with different settings, without having to replace MACD1 with MACD2…, moreover your indicators’ list would soon become cluttered.

As Mr. Robertogozzi told you, new features are available on the ProRealTime version v11 only.
Indeed, you can now save complete groups of indicators in v11 which can be applied on any chart, independently from any template. therefore, you can create different indicator setting in different instrument in two clicks.I suggest you click on this link in order to discover new features of version v11.

11/18/2019 at 3:00 AM #112992I was trying on Version 11 – not sure how to achieve this. Could someone give an idea how to do this in version 11. To make it clear – I want the indicator settings to be tied to the instrument . This is quite logical because indicators settings can be optimised for instrument even when we are doing manual trades and this is quite important. For example, if i am using a template ABC, i switch from AUDUSD to EURUSD – i would want these two instruments to have different settings for example AUDUSD – MACD (5,29,9) and EURUSD (12,26,9). So when i switch the instrument, it has its own indicator settings. It does not bother me how this is achieved.
If someone could provide info on how this can be done in Version 11, would be great.

No matter what we do, its is quite inconvenient because each time you switch the instrument, you need to apply the settings. This needs to be done countless times.
For an advanced platform like pro real time with so many features, I am surprised this basic yet vital feature is not available in a convenient way. THere should have been option to link indicator to instrument and timeframe. Logic applied to chart study would have been perfect solution. But i suppose, the study part is only for the objects not indicator
11/18/2019 at 11:23 AM #113011s00071609 is right, having to apply settings manually for every instrument selecred is very time consuming! When your screener reports 100 lines, clicking on any instrument should open THAT instrument, its properties and everything else associated to it automatically, otherwise it’s not very useful, unless you always use a couple of instruments at most and no screeners.
