DEFINITION of ‘Displaced Moving Average’
A moving average that has been adjusted forward or back in time in order to forecast trends. Displaced moving averages are constructed by taking the moving average and shifting it by a number of intervals, either positive or negative. If the number is negative, the displaced moving average will lag the original moving average, and if the number is positive the displaced moving average will lead the original moving average.
With ProBuilder, it’s possible to display the past value of a moving average for the current candlesticks. But it’s not possible to draw things in the future, at the right of the price. It is the same to draw things in the past, if you want to shift a number of negative intervals the platform engine don’t allow it by custom coding (10.2). With version 10.3 it’s possible to draw in the past (not future though), but it will be only text, not curves…
