Despair.
May be I can help..
Is your browser still working after PRT crashes?
Is it just PRT that crashes or are there other software applications that also becomes unresponsive.Check the following-
R/click My Computer – Properties – Advanced system settings – Advanced (tab on top) –
in Performance block click Settings – Advanced (tab on top) – Tick programs button – Click change button –
The only button ticked should be – [System managed size]
The following should be OFF/Disabled
[Custom size] button, [System managed size], [No paging file]Do you know how to change the location of your Temp files? This can also influence your computer’s stability.
GOOD PRACTISE:
Press Cntrl+S often. This saves your work. The same as what you would do with a document that you work on. Press Cntrl+S often.
After some time it becomes habit and you do it automatically.
The computer wont mind if you press it every minute.08/14/2017 at 7:56 AM #4313108/14/2017 at 10:09 AM #43145The whole platform became unresponsive so I had to restart it and then files were gone (happened before).
@Andre Foster: I’m on a Mac.And sadly (it had this before) CTRL-S does not work correctly. I pressed it several times during the day, anyway nothing was saved. This issue was discussed in other threads. The only more or less reliable saving happens when you exit the platform. This obviously is not possible when it becomes unresponsive.
08/14/2017 at 12:31 PM #43150Plus one here for locking up and losing everything. It has happened many times to me over the last few weeks. I’m unable to click on anything to close or save and so have to resort to task manager to shut down Java – and then I lose everything since the last save. Usually just when I’m really getting somewhere with an idea! It is enough to turn a man to strong drink!
08/15/2017 at 2:26 AM #4318308/15/2017 at 8:11 AM #43190I’m on a mac to and I normally close down the platform and restart it if I’m leaving the computer or just taking a break. At least everything gets saved then.
08/15/2017 at 10:57 AM #43193Often delete Temp files. All of them. I do it at least once a week.
Make sure all your Temp files are in one Dierctory and not scattered under C:\Windows\Temp and \\%user%\Temp , etc.
Delete Java Temp files through ControlPanle – JAVA – General – settings. While you there untick – Auto update Java. -
