Hi,
When using x ticks views, I’ve noticed using a multiple of 10 ticks is more likely to give you longer historic data. It’s a trick that works both ways: use a multiple of 10 if you prefer longer history for backtesting purpose, use numbers like 11 or 53 or 102 or 501 if you want to shorten history so that you can have several x ticks charts viewed in the same working space without taking ages to launch it and/or reaching memory limits too soon.
Here is a comparison of maximum history you can reach depending on timeframe and instrument and on the PRT version (complete or premium): http://ee.md.it-finance.com/IGIndex/features_premium.phtml?locale=en_GB
Sometimes (x ticks views, 30 minutes charts) you need to have very few charts (possibly just one) at the same time in the working space to reach the maximum possible history length
Also, for small x ticks when ovw is involved, it seems to work better if you choose in the chart to look back x days rather than x units.
