When using PRT I can setup an alert, where if I am participating in a long position and if the price crosses under certain value, then the system can trigger a market order to sell the position. I am unable to create an alert with stop-order at a chosen price level. Has anyone attempted to create some kind of programmatic approach, where upon alert trigger a stop order is created?

Using the Alert function you can create a Buy or a Sell so if you disable ‘Force Open’ then would this achieve what you want?

Easiest is to set up above as a trial on your Demo Platform.

I don’t think it will achieve what I am looking for. My current setup already has Force Open set to Disabled. The idea I would like to accomplish would be as follows:

I go into a trade for long at e.g. price 100, then if the price reaches 110, I would like the system to create a stop-order at 105, so that if the price goes back to 105 the position is closed with 5 points in profit.

Currently I am able to achieve a similar outcome, but only with slight disadvantage, e.g.

I go into a trade for long at e.g. price 100, then if the price crosses under 105, the system creates a market order and closes the position.

In a highly volatile market conditions this is not really wanted move, as the price can fluctuate 2-3 points at each tick. I am trading DAX Cash via CFD, where the market sometimes gets quite volatile.

Just to clarify … we are talking manual trading here?

Have you tried using the inbuilt PRT Trailing Stop?

    Like this?

Yes, manual trade. Unfortunately trailing stop would not do it, as I have seen it on many occasions where price moves up quickly, and then back down and back up, so in this instance it would knock out the Stop Loss. Please see the attached image as an example

Sorry, I think you have misunderstood me. Please see the attached for the example.

Should work if you place the line where you want it after the buy?

But if you want to sell at a limit (less than current price) its not possible with IG
