Hi
To be able to test further back in time, I’ve accuered regular PRT. But I trade through IG’s PRT.
What do you guys suggest testing a strategy on when i us the PRT 10.3? Say if i want to test a strategy on the CAC40, should i use the index or the future? What should i do about spread? Add 2 points, since thats what will be the spread when I trade it on the IG account?
Regards
Yngve
12/13/2016 at 8:35 PM #18479Hi, you bought real market PRT right? Are you testing strategies with indicators that rely on or that use out of hours data? Spread depends on whether your algos trade the real market hours only or include out of hours.
Remember that IG has said that 10.3 should come in January and you can open an IG account via the PRT website to get 200k units of data.
01/29/2017 at 9:11 PM #22996Guys,
I don’t have any volume displayed for shares on IG spreadbetting account PRT 10.2, it is is only available for indicies. Does anyone know why? I also have free PRT account with daily charts where volume displayed for shares.
Thanks

02/01/2017 at 5:07 AM #23364Bin you got me very excited.
When you actually click through to open an account this offer is only open to residents of specific countries (which annoyingly isn’t stated by PRT) and thus I’m excluded from this offer. What a pain in the….

I’ve managed to open a new account with PRT being the sponsor but to date my experience with support has been no support. It took over a month to get the account open so I could deposit money but that was an IG issue. Finally after depositing money I turned on PRT and sadly only the Live account has the Premium version but the Demo is NOT Premium?
So this means you have to develop code and back test in Live Premium and then move it to the Demo account to start testing in “RealTime” to see how it actually performs in “semi real market” versus the back tests. I asked IG to make the Demo account PRT Premium but they say they can’t. I asked the same question of PRT through the Help window console and I had no contact from PRT for over a week. I called them today and it just went to voicemail because they were too busy dealing with other clients and suggested I email them which I had already done.
Finally they got back to me and sadly the Premium is only in the Live account. How ridiculous no professional firm develops in a live environment. Everyone develops and tests in a non live “test” environment. Especially when PRT doesn’t execute somethings as it should with IG like Trailing Stops etc…. I email PRT stating this, so hopefully they will realise their flawed and illogical product service offering and change it.
Nicolas you’ve done an amazing job building this community and no doubt you’ve brought PRT and IG a lot more customers. Maybe you can email them also raising this issue?
03/20/2017 at 2:05 PM #29175Thank you for the Update David, I’m sorry to hear your bad experiences.
My understanding is that the Premium version has more historical data and more options etc and is not a ‘beta version’ (no professional firm develops in a live environment)? Or am I misunderstanding you?
Premium available in Live only may be a ‘commercial temptor’ … to get folks to go Live? If so, when Live then premium should be available in Demo ALSO… poor show and confusing / frustrating otherwise … as you are finding.
Best
GraHal03/20/2017 at 3:13 PM #29188Hi David.
Contact IG and ask them to give you the account number of the “Demo mode” of your IG account sponsored by ProRealTime.
Then give this number to the PRT support (support@prorealtime.com) and make sure to specify in your email that this number is the Demo one.Henry
03/21/2017 at 8:22 AM #29258Thanks for the suggestion Henry.
I did exactly as you have suggested already stating the Live and Demo Account numbers (IG told me to do this), first I sent an email through the Help system (as per IG’s advice) and no response, then I sent an email to “support” – still no response then I sent an email to “contact” and I finally got the response of: “Unfortunately we offer the premium version only for the live accounts but not for demo accounts.”
So I assume you actually have the Demo running as Premium? But sadly I’m getting a different response from PRT.
I’m not sure what’s more frustrating the fact that:
- This is taking way too long – and I should just focus on another platform
- I’ve not had even “average” support for this basic request
- IG and now you have told me it’s possible but PRT says no? Why the inconsistency?
- I have this feeling that PRT is not really serious about their product/service –
I keep questioning the reliability and dependability of this situation.
03/23/2017 at 4:28 PM #29641Hi David,
I have notified the ProRealTime support team. It just seems the person that replied to you was not aware this was possible.
Can you please re-send them your “Demo mode” account number ?Henry
