See attachment; The ProBacktest view of the instrument always comes with the Equity Curve. It also always comes with its own height of that. First off I don’t even want the Equity curve to show, let alone at that “consuming” height.
I can’t count how many times I am dragging that area smaller (always resizes when you apply a new time period and more).a. One should be allowed to omit it at all;
b. One should be allowed to set its size and position and have that pertained.Please notice that when the EQ Curve is closed, the Detailed Report is also closed. But we don’t want *that* to close. So no resolution.
PS: My internal #019.

So why don’t you save (Quit + Save) XX Template with no backtest / equity curve displayed and then when you open XX Template next time there will be no equity curve displayed?
Above is what I do and it works for me.
01/23/2021 at 3:22 PM #159060This one annoys me as well. Everytime I click backtest I have to readjust all my boxes.
Esp when you have a few indicators in their own boxes.01/23/2021 at 3:52 PM #159069So why don’t you save (Quit + Save) XX Template with no backtest / equity curve displayed and then when you open XX Template next time there will be no equity curve displayed? Above is what I do and it works for me.
Can you please elaborate somewhat on that one ?
I can save what I want and I can kill what I want in between, the thing comes back when I run a new BackTest.
Additionally, as I told, when I close the EQ Curve, the Detailed report disappears; And what to backtest without that report eh ? 🙂Now I am not sure whether I should show you my sequence (and prove it is so and with that possibly showing that I apply something wrongly) or that you (please) tell me how you do that.
For each past ran BackTest (time period) a new Equity Curve emerges (and new Arrow colours appear). I can close them all. But not that current one. That will kill my detailed report.
Ah, maybe I should add : I run the BackTests into real time. Thus (see attachment) I want to follow the on-going gains (can’t show that really today because there’s nothing much live for me at this moment). So this is not really Optimizing and such. But with backtest not-realtime (like examining a specific period) the Detailed Report would also disappear when closing the EQ Curve. Actually you’d kill the backtest data with it. See 2nd attachment for what BackTest data is … (or could be).01/23/2021 at 4:23 PM #159080Now I am not sure whether I should show you my sequence (and prove it is so and with that possibly showing that I apply something wrongly) or that you (please) tell me how you do that.
Let’s leave it a while either way. I will check out your post again when I am backtesting.
It can be a bit like being asked … how do you breathe … we do it instinctively and so we cannot immediately answer!? 🙂
An aside question:
You cannot Autotrade with IB so do you code your manual strategy and backtest that to see if your manual strategy is effective over the long term … is that why you are backtesting, hence this Topic?

Haha, No. Originally I AutoTraded with PRT-IG, but they are too expensive and from what I (very personally) found, not reliable for the real data vs backtest data. Let’s say that I just don’t trust it over there (FWIW).
The code I have is ever and ever further improved (this seems an infinite job), until that one day that will appear that AutoTrading in PRT-IB is allowed. So it is really a “some year’s” work and by the time it happens I might be ready for it. 🙂Edit : I scratched away some remark about the numerous trades I apply manually, because I deemed it unnecessary. Meanwhile you might think I am looking for fun at some BackTest program. But no. Many many trades a day here (and not scalping).
