This thread is where you will find the updates of the News Calendar Indicator as I can not add files to the actual Indicator post itself.
I will try to update these Quarterly unless there are issues with the calendar.
Some modifications since the originally posted calendar:
- Left alignment of the event name
- Same font and size
- Abbreviations used for common words (GDP, PPI, PCI etc) so the words are not as long and to keep it tidy
ProrealTime News Indicator
2020-09-03
Free to use “As is” – No guarantees. No warranties. No requests. What is this:
A calendar indicator for ProrealTime based on version 10.3. The data is scraped via Excel and formatted to PRT code.Future updates:
Will be released based on free time and interest from the community. How to install:
- Download and install the indicator. If you copy and paste you will miss out the settings options menu.
- Indicator name: NEWS-2008-09 means full month 08 (August) of 2020 and half the month of month 09 (September).
- Next indicator: NEWS-2009-10 will have a full month of month 09 (September) and half the month of month 10 (October) etc.
- You can install multiple news indicators beforehand and use NewsOn checkbox to disable / enable each of them as they are of interest.
- You may want to set FirstRow and ShownRows in each indicator as invisible if it causes problems.
- Consider UNLINKING the chart where you place the indicator so it doesn’t have to update every time you change security.
- Consider using a security that has 24 hour update and starts early on weekdays (EUR/USD) or DJIA or similar.
How to setup:
- Set the Timeframe to DAILY.
- Set the number of units to 6 (x) units. This will display best in a small narrow window.
- Change the ShowRows to compact or space out the number of shown rows and the distance between rows depending on the size of the window.
- Set your UTC time zone to your own region in the settings – this will change the time of the event accordingly.
- A +/- next to date tells you if the event occurs +1 or -1 from this date depending on your UTC zone.
Features:
- StartTodayOn checked will show the dates from today and forwards, or the timeframe you choose.
- Date entries StartDate and Endate filters specific dates if StarTodayOn is unchecked. Dateformat YYMMDD. Sorry imperialists – US & UK standards are no good in programming and conflicting even between systems.
- Filter settings based on News Impact level:
Impact0 – Holidays
Impact1 – Not used as there are far too many entries of little to no importance and for coding reasons.
Impact2 – For News Impact level 2
Impact2 – For News Impact level 3 - Filter news based on country / region by disabling or enbabling check-boxes. I have no plans to incorporate further regions at this time.
Disclaimer: Events and timestamps listed in this indicator are scraped off the internet. No guarantees that data is accurate.
Good Hunting!
