I guess I really shouldn’t be surprised by this “Pro”Realtime limitation.
I’ve come up with 2 workarounds.
- restrict the backtest to date ranges to have less than 1000 and then export in manual batches or
- print the report to PDF then use online PDF to XLS.
At the least there could be an export to CSV option.
Any other suggestions? Thanks guys!
04/20/2018 at 10:20 AM #68859I spent ages and ages trying to get the print to pdf and then online convert to xls to result in accurate figures, I even downloaded several apps and tried on my PC.
I gave up in the end due to inaccurate formatting and data missed out as a result of conversion to xls etc.
Please let me know David / anybody if (and how) you have success in this?

04/23/2018 at 10:12 AM #68967GraHal did you try different fonts and different PDF printers?
I thought if I increase the font size it would print larger but no it didn’t 🙁
I did a quick try on Win10 print to PDF with different fonts and I think this might work if we find a good font but I’ll need to come back to this later. I searched online and people recommended Calibri or Tahoma font as a good OCR font.
If you have some time would you mind giving it a shot? Let me know which OS you use and fonts and I will try on a different OS.
04/23/2018 at 11:01 AM #68970The whole experience left me with a ‘very bad taste in my mouth’ so I abandoned the idea for ever! 🙂
I even emailed the printed pdf file to Tech Support of one of the online sites I’d been using to convert to xls. After many hasteners to them (I guess they not get much out of it) I finally got a converted file back and guess what … it had the same formatting errors that I had got using their direct diy online service! 🙂
I recall the main issue was where data was spread across more than one cell … this resulted in the biggest xls formatting error.
Re OS … I run Windows 10.
I can’t recall trying different fonts … this is a very good idea, please report back how you get on.
Cheers
GraHal04/24/2018 at 8:48 AM #69046Using Tahoma on Mac to print all looks good on first pass.
I moved the Date column to place it the 2nd Column to make it clearer because when the report is generated by PRT the Date column is aligned right and the Type “BUY (entry)” is aligned left so when you print it would make it harder for the conversion software.
I tried 3 online FREE services.
https://www.pdftoexcelonline.com/en/– not goodhttps://www.pdftoexcel.com/ – this generated 1 Sheet, with repeated headers and it split the Date column into 2 columns (1 for Dates and 1 for Time – not a big deal it can be concatenated), values matched the PDF print out.
https://smallpdf.com/pdf-to-excel – this generated many sheets (eg a sheet per report page print out), values matched the PDF printout.
I compared the values between https://www.pdftoexcel.com/ and https://smallpdf.com/pdf-to-excel and they matched.
At this early stage I’m satisfied with this hack of a solution.
04/24/2018 at 9:05 AM #69048Oh Wow, that looks so good @David … you’re a better man than me (in that respect anyway! 🙂 )
I still don’t think i could face it again, but you have tempted me … pity you’re not female, I could have called you a Temptress (Oooeeerrr! 🙂 )
Sorry, I’m in a mad mood this morning … my St John’s Wort happy pills and 10 hours sleep must have worked! 🙂
Well Done and Thank You for posting Your Findings
