Hey Guys,
How is the Status. Are you still alive after the struggling last days?How do you want to proceed with the Swing algos?
I evaluated the last couple month and recognized that it was loss making from September onwards.
September and October mainly because of sell orders, which was not really clever as the trend was long.
February now was in my opinion exceptional due to the correction/ flash crash whatsoever.
Only December was profitable.I hope you didnt trade Copper the last period?!
Commodities in general would have been profitable if Copper wouldnt have created a huge loss for me.
Indices are only loss making for short trades in my case.Surprisingly the 4H pathfinders came through so far (didnt open positions) except DOW with a respectable loss.
Are you still trading the 4H Pathfinders?Best regards

Hello O-jay8 and Patrick,
Considering this “market correction” I am more sceptical to our swing systems right now. As O-jay8 pointed out, the 4h systems were not affected, apart from DOW, but almost all of our swing systems were.
I have tried to see if there was any way to avoid these losses, but so far no. I think another smoothing parameter is needed to avoid similar crashes in the future.
What I am trying to do now is to optimise a system for a full year but without optimising each period. I want to see if that might be a feasible way to work with the daily systems instead. I will post my progress here, but at the moment I won’t run our swings.
No, I haven’t stopped any of the sector systems, but some of them reached their stoploss which massive losses. Since most of them run for a minimum of 2 weeks I will wait them out and hope for the best.

Surprisingly almost all losses from the last 2 weeks got offset by the recent gains. Copper ended up with a gain as well. China, Dax, STXE are running favorably.
South Africa, Hangseng for 4h closed with nice profits.Unlucky that I did run it in demo only as I became scared and stopped all my Swing algos (e.g. Copper) or reduced the size (e.g Hangseng and Dow in 4h Pathfinder)
It proves again it is often better just to stick to the Strategy. But sleepless nights and a high Pulse would kill me.
Somehow it gives me a certain degree of confidence back for the Swing algos.I am just thinking to activate Swing algos when the overall trend looks to be going in the same direction. The idea of Swing trading is to follow the trend and profit from push backs. Before I didnt do it.
