Hi guys, this topic is for all discussions related to the Pathfinder trading system strategies. The system based on four components that work perfectly together. signalline – instrument trend line based on two smoothed averages (Wilder and Time Series) breakout levels – previous daily, weekly and monthly high/lows in combination with fast and slow averages as filters because not every breakout is profitable saisonal behavior – position size will be boost with a multiplier for each month depending on the historical seasonal behavior smart money and position management – grid orders, maximal position size monitoring, superordinate stop loss/take profit, trailing stop and maximum holding periods are used mechanisms The Pathfinder breakout logic works well for many instruments with 24 hour quotes such as DAX, DOW, FTSE, Hang Seng, NIKKEI in 4 hours timeframe. All versions are optimized for an 10k Euro account. Pathfinder strategies offer a statistical advantage but are of course not a holy grail and there is no guarantee to make money with it. The systems are optimized for historical data and historical gains are not a guarantee to be successful in the future. I strictly recommend to adjust the position sizes to your personal account size and try first in demo mode. The results in life trading will differ from the backtest results. I also recommend to start in life trading with a small account size. Anyone can use the programs for free and at their own risk. Pathfinder is my private and fully transparent algorithmic trading project exclusively implemented for ProRealTime 10.3. The status is experimental and I don’t trade all the systems presented here. first of all thank you very much for your modified algos, they seems to be always better.

About HS algo, I use V6 in real in my 9K euros account; do you think V7 is too risky with its higer DD?

Hi Potto,

Pathfinder HS 4H V6 is a perfect robot this year. Especially the combination of profit and drawdown is remarkable. You are absolutely right V7 delivers even more profit but the drawdown is higher. If you reduce the position sizes in V7 this would also reduce your risk (from max 6 contracts to 4 contracts) and the profit in 2017 is 50% (90k HKD) higher as in V6 (60k HKD).

I run v7 on dax on demo and no trade so far

(i have also v7 dax running on 1 hour demo to see that it works and i had one trade so far 2 contract and it closed with a profit so no problem with execution on demo)

Yesterday 5 o’clock the Pathfinder HS V7 just stopped in the live account instead of switching from short to long (like in demo). The error report says “opposite risk positions not allowed” like the last time. Maybe Pathfinder do have a problem with the “limited risk” account.

V6 in live switched from short to long position in my small size account.

Are there any restriction in german account?

Hi Wisko,

It seems that turning an existing position doesn’t work with limited risk accounts. I have adopted the trading commands accordingly:

I have DAX,DOW and HS v7 H4 running on demo

dax and dow had a preloadbar issue and stopped?

HS still running and closed the short and now long

(i also run dax 1 hour v7 and no problems)

I experienced the same as Eric for the Dax version (preloadedbars issue). The dow version did not stop for me. HS switched from short to long yesterday.

preloadedbars issue is nightmare! I never had this problem with my versions and all my V7 are still running in demo without a problem.

@pfeiler: do you have any problems in life with the V7?
