Hi there, I am new to prorealcode and was told to post a new thread. I hope I am doing things correctly and by the rules. If not, i apologise. My question is: is it possible to add the following modifications to this great indicator by Nicholas, https://www.prorealcode.com/prorealtime-indicators/fibonacci-pivots-points-4-hours-daily-weekly-monthly/ ?
Modifications:
- Add previous day range Fibo extensions i.e previous day range * 1.618, 1.382 similar to the Fib Retracements already included inside the indicator?
- Add the ability to define the timeframe from which to use to calculate the classic pivot points and select the start and end times. I have seen a post that has achieved this but it is only applicable to generate camarilla pivot points.this thread : https://www.prorealcode.com/prorealtime-indicators/intraday-flexible-camarilla-pivot-points/ .
12/14/2020 at 12:18 PM #153673Hi, I’ll look into the question you asked me this morning (and Nicolas too apparently), thanks for your patience, I am just a user like you going through my trading day like everyone else, and trying to help out in between trades. Answer might be a reply here, adapting the library code or a new library post, I’ll see that with Nicolas.
(No need to repost the code when having provided the link to the code in same website, especially when not having used the “insert prt code” formatting button, I’ll delete unformatted code in above post)
12/16/2020 at 6:30 PM #154038Hi, the other day I replied in the library to your first question modifying my code for classic points. Reading back the post here, I am looking at how to modify Nicolas’ code too (he’s having an extremely busy end of year so I’ll give it a go).
Fib extension shouldn’t be a problem to add. The ability to select a timeframe I see is already in Nicolas code as he explained with the « PivotTF » setting. But I’m not sure what expectations you have for the addition of start and finish time in his code?
If it’s for his 4h timeframe only (not daily and above), to have a more flexible way the intraday 4h time blocks are sliced, then the library answer of the other day probably already covered that.
But if it’s for some sort of customisation of his daily pivot points, it would be trying to include just an « end time », then I don’t see what the start time would be used for. So I’m guessing either I’ve been scratching my head for nothing on a not needed start time, or there’s some use I haven’t seen and I have to see it to try to code it, in which case I would welcome a more specific description of the usage you would have for both the start and end time to see if I can squeeze that in before Christmas?
12/23/2020 at 11:56 AM #154968Noobywan Hi!!! thank you very much for taking the time, appreciated! Great news about adding the previous day range’s Fib extensions. Thanks.
To clarify about the ability to have user defined start & end times, periodicity its better to give an example. I calculate daily pivots, from the close of the 15 min bar at 21:45 UK time (start time) till close of 15min bar at 21:45 UK (end time) 24 hr period. Others may want to define different start and end times based on different periodicity (say 1hr close etc). Furthermore, this allows me to define my own 24hr pivot calculation period with a different high, low value rather than just taking the calculation from my servers 24hr period i.e. 12am – 12am UK time. It gives us the user the ability to define ur own pivot calculation 24hr lookback period.
I believe many of us will find this useful and I hope I have clarified this. Again many thanks for taking the time and hopefully the modifications can be made at your own time. No rush and again many thanks!!
01/21/2021 at 6:20 PM #158849Hi FXTT, my apologies for the delayed answer, I haven’t forgotten about your request, I wanted to have a go at it early January, but then health problems kept me away from my screens for a few days. I’m slowly back this week, crossing off my to-do list all sorts of late items, including your request.
Nicolas decided the answer should be in the form of a library new post, so here is version 2 of his code, where I added one extra setting for daily with custom times, and the extra fib extensions: https://www.prorealcode.com/prorealtime-indicators/fibonacci-pivots-points-v2-inc-custom-time-settings-for-daily/
