I notice that if I shut the lid down on my laptop so that it goes to sleep when I re-open the laptop the ProOrder AutoTrading window values do not update. I have to close the window and re-open it to get the correct values. If I do not do this then I can be sitting there thinking a strategy position is doing very well or very badly when in fact I am not looking at the correct value. Is this something PRT can rectify?
05/14/2018 at 2:01 PM #70365I’ve also just noticed that after I minimised the PRT platform down and then did something else on my laptop for a couple of hours that when I returned to PRT the ProOrder AutoTrading window was not updating and had to be closed and opened again to get the correct values.

The laptop is not sleeping automatically. The problem occurs if I manually shut the lid down or if I have not been using PRT for a while. It happened again just now – I was listening to a podcast while washing up and when I came back and maximised PRT the ProOrderAutoTrading window was not updating its values. I ‘x’d the window and reopened it via the ‘Trading’ tab and everything was suddenly updating. A position that was showing as being in a losing position was suddenly in a winning position and values were changing where they were not before.
05/15/2018 at 7:36 AM #70461If PRT wish to retain this (mal) feature then they should arrange an auto-close of the AutoTrading window when not in use for > X mins?
Or easiest for PRT would be to post a warning in BOLD BLOCK on the Auto-Trading window re data not updated after X mins idle time?
I’m going to try and get into the habit if closing my Auto-Trading window when not actively using it. More faffing to remember! 🙁
05/16/2018 at 8:22 AM #70571I just spotted one major problem possibly caused by the ProOrder AutoTrading window not updating. I am guessing that at some point I must have stopped some strategies in my demo account that were under performing and that I assumed did not have any current open positions at the time I stopped them as this is what the ProOrder AutoTrading window was telling me – but I just found six orphaned trades, five of which were running with big losses.
Strange really as I had PRT set to close any positions of stopped strategies and I have not done anything on the IG platform for absolutely ages so these positions should not be open.
05/16/2018 at 9:15 AM #70591Same happened to me!
I thought overall my Demo Portfolio was doing rubbish and then I discovered am orphaned Trade that was losing loads as it was running out of control with no Exits / Stops!
On the face of it, an observer might think … what you don’t know what trades are running?? But due to the trades stacking and the name of the System not being legible when Systems stack as the name is under each System instead of to the right as I have submitted suggestions to PRT more than once … oh don’t gt me started, I’m already a bad mood today! 🙂
05/16/2018 at 10:46 AM #70604Exactly GraHal! I thought to myself how the hell did I not spot those orphaned trades but when I hovered over them on the charts there was no label but I wouldn’t know that as you cannot see the labels anyway! I was not looking for orphaned trades as there should be none as I had everything set to stop all trades if a strategy is stopped. I will now always run with an ‘Open Positions’ window open and hopefully spot this sort of thing earlier. It should not happen at all though!
05/16/2018 at 11:08 AM #70607The doubly annoying thing is, there’s all this good / useful nuggets of intelligence from us (and clearly never spotted by PRT Test Team?) just waiting to help make the PRT the best Platform out there?
But PRT seem not to want to benefit from / encourage us as a free resource … hell they even demoralise us by not acknowledging / replying to Issues we experience and don’t take up our suggestions for improvements?
Oh I’d best get on with my House Design before I go really negative again! 🙂
05/31/2018 at 1:47 PM #71859Hello,
If the computer goes into standby mode and the internet connection is disconnected, the platform no longer receives information for the calculation of earnings, so the earnings can’t be updated automatically.
Regards,
Carine
05/31/2018 at 3:29 PM #71872Thank you for your reply Carine.
Would there be any way for PRT to provide a fix for this. For example if the internet is re-connected then auto update the ProOrder Autotrading window upon reconnection. The Open Positions window manages to do this so why not the ProOrder Autotrading window?
It can be frustrating to be looking at your strategy results only to find that after a minute or two you notice that one with an open position is not changing its value. Shutting the window and re-opening is a bit of a naff fix for the problem!
06/04/2018 at 2:23 PM #72231The AutoTrading window often fails to update properly – the closing/opening the laptop lid is a red herring as of course as Carine correctly points out if the internet connection is lost obviously the values cannot update but please do not think that is the answer to this issue Carine
Many times I have started strategies one after the other in demo PRT and the latest strategy will show all zero’s even though a trade has been opened
When I start the next strategy the previous one will suddenly spring into life and show the values however sometimes I do not want to start another strategy so the only way to kick it into life is to close and re-open the AutoTrading window
(also did the same thing in the past stopping a strategy that looked ‘dead’ only to realise it was alive n kicking and also had the ‘orphaned’ trade many a time…)
06/04/2018 at 2:40 PM #72244PS – @Vonasi at least we have a naff fix until PRT realise the issue eh 😉 and beware even though you may have pressed CTRL+S a million times and/or manually saved if you were to one time come back and open your laptop lid and PRT has timed out or crashed you will more than likely have lost any work since the last opening of PRT
SAVE -> QUIT -> SAVE -> REOPEN before leaving your machine is the only 100% certain naff fix I have found for properly saving in PRT (as much as PRT still refuse to believe saving in PRT is an issue…)
06/04/2018 at 5:12 PM #72263Yes we at least have a workaround to these issues. They are an inconvenience that if fixed would make using PRT a far smoother experience but they are not deal breakers that cost us money. I am hoping that PRT coders are putting all their energies into perfecting the major updates such as multi time frame and partial closure and when they have perfected those they can attend to the minor inconveniences like these.
06/27/2018 at 4:02 PM #74546Not sure what is going on but I am having to close and re-open the ProOrder AutoTrading window a lot lately
@Carine – As already stated here I know, understand and respect this is NOT top priority but would it be possible for you to acknowledge there is an issue with the ProOrder AutoTrading window please? (and not that it is due to the laptop lid being shut)I have 25 demo strategies running and a quick glance through them every few hours a day things don’t look quite right – click in on the View Performance for a particular system which is showing a loss and it is actually in profit!
Close and re-open the AutoTrading window and voila! All the figures come good and are very different than before/many systems are actually in profit etc.
Also earlier today I remoted into my laptop from my phone to take a look at the one live system I have running and just about flipped when I saw a MASSIVE loss (Latent gain showing 10 x the maximum possible stop limit of the system)
Tried to remain calm and closed and re-opened the window and phew! there was not even a position currently open and total gain was as it had been when I left to go out
I also had an odd thing on this same system that has been running since Monday in that the IG dashboard was showing an orphaned trade [live – and in good profit!] but the system in PRT showed no open positions – called up IG support in a mild panic and was told to refresh the browser page (why hadn’t I thought of that!) and again voila! no open position (but it was most definitely there in the open positions tab in IG dashboard whirring away…)
