Hi David, why not! Are you talking about shares?
Actually this strategy run fine with 1 point spread. Because it’s an intraday strategy, you don’t have to deal with overnight/week-end fees that can turn profitable strategies into loosing ones..
05/12/2016 at 2:34 PM #6895I have started to test this and it seems quite good but there are a couple of things that worries me:
Parameters:
MaxAmplitude = 58 (or 32.5 in your case)
MinAmplitude = 11
OrderDistance = 4
PourcentageMin = 30How did you choose them? Aren’t we in the case that they have been setup to perform well on the past but not the future? (I have done this mistake in the past 🙁 )
the performance that you give in the other thread are not the same that I have in the backtest. what could be the reason?
JAN 21.4% agiants your’s of 10.32 (I use spread 1 2 contracts 2 euro per point)
FEB -3.14% against -13.33%
MAR -8.02 against -8.09%
What about the avarage trade… it is always less than 5 euros… is this normal for a TS?
last question. How to setup the 4 parameters for other index? Maybe wti?
Thanks in advance for your help!
05/26/2016 at 8:38 AM #8069Nicolas… how to improve this?
The system got 5 losses in a row and now with 2 incredible days up it didn’t enter at all.
How can we avoid to skip these days?
David
05/26/2016 at 9:28 AM #8086It didn’t trade because of its parameters. I’d like it to be more performant actually but that’s not the case. We have to wait to see how things goes, the performance were not so steady in the past, so we are maybe in a non-profit period. I know this is quiet difficult to sit and wait and to watch past profit go away, but that’s how we achieve good results in a long run. Just like me, you know that sometimes trading strategy don’t fit well to a beautiful straight equity curve and trying to make it more straight is a trap that tends to overfit that what had happened in the past.
I don’t know the right words in English, but in French we used to say : “le mieux est l’ennemi du bien”, understand that trying to get things better than good is not so right.
But… 🙂 because you asking me, to avoid to skip these days, you should look at “max amplitude”. Also if the system loose 5 times in a row it’s because it tried to inverse position in the same day because of false breakout. There is also no any kind of stoploss moving while in good profit, and because CAC40 price seems to mean revert in intraday actually (POC and/or orderbook fault?), a lot of money are given back to market.. but that’s also why the strategy worked in the past.. These are some clues to maybe change the strategy behaviour. If you plan to work on it, I can help you, if you’re ok, please open a new topic to separate things and make it clearer for everyone. Thanks.
05/26/2016 at 10:57 AM #8097Hi Nicolas, for the moment I will not work on this. I don’t have with my IG Market PRT version too much historical data on 15 minutes TF to improve this strategy. I will see in the future and inform you.
let’s continue to run follow this TS.
05/27/2016 at 1:57 PM #8229Hi Nicolas
Testing this code live with a fixed lot. You mentioned that you reinvest and increase lotsize when profitable. Do you still do that? Do you let it run month after month or do you reset and start every month to have a more limited exposure and risk?
Thanks
05/27/2016 at 2:00 PM #8230My own account has revinvested gain on. But you need at least 1000€ profit for the first lot to increase. ’cause it doesn’t perform so good since start of the year, the strategy has gone back the same lot size than the initial one.

06/30/2016 at 1:07 PM #10021Hi Nicolas!
If I want to start with 1 lot instead of 2 (see below) when reinvesting, do I change the first “2” to “1” instead?
n = max(1,2+ROUND((strategyprofit-1000)/1000))
If I want to test on swedish OMX30, what parameters do I need to change and can they be optimized while backtesting?
Thanks!
06/30/2016 at 1:39 PM #10023Yes, it’s the first “2” that you need to change to “1”.
The parameters that you can change/optimize are these ones:
1234MaxAmplitude <span class="token operator">=</span> <span class="token number">80</span>MinAmplitude <span class="token operator">=</span> <span class="token number">30</span>OrderDistance <span class="token operator">=</span> <span class="token number">4</span>PourcentageMin <span class="token operator">=</span> <span class="token number">30</span>06/30/2016 at 2:05 PM #1003007/05/2016 at 11:22 PM #1025508/29/2016 at 4:15 PM #12398Nicolas, hello… any updates? The strategy is not goin well in these month. do you confirm? normal down period?

08/29/2016 at 4:46 PM #1240208/29/2016 at 5:44 PM #12407Nicolas, would you like to try to do an exercise that too many people forget about?
Slippage… if you post me all your trades in live I will calculate it. An excel file would be good. With the few values that I have with this strategy there is around 1.6 point of spread.
In your experience is it good or too much high?
David
08/29/2016 at 6:46 PM #12411Are you saying that you have 1.6 points of slippage?
From Wikipedia: slippage is the difference between where the computer signaled the entry and exit for a trade and where actual clients, with actual money, entered and exited the market using the computer’s signals.
