You might be onto something there. It does seem very random. I can go for days with two platforms open and with many windows with many indicators on charts with no problem and then the next day I have hardly anything loaded and it locks up.
It might be worth bringing it to PRT’s attention via a technical report and highlighting this thread. Would you mind doing it as I’ve already got one in with them at the moment and I’d hate to come across as someone who always gives them problems!
01/08/2018 at 11:56 AM #57691We can only do a Technical Report at the time of the incident by using Help / TechnicalReport.
I also have loads of incidents in with PRT (but not recently as I got demoralised with lack of visibility after submission etc) but I will submit Technical Report next time if I can (couldn’t even do that this time as all windows frozen!).
This Forum is monitored by PRT so let’s see if they have anything to say on this Topic!!?
01/08/2018 at 12:10 PM #5769401/08/2018 at 12:33 PM #57700Yes but when you submit a Technical Report it says that if you click to send ‘network settings and open windows and code’ you are running at the time of the incident then they will fully investigate all aspects.
So that is best for one of us to do next time? I couldn’t on my incident at 10:30 ish today cos all actions were hanging / frozen and Platform wouldn’t accept a click on Help etc.

You should probably post this as a different thread as it is in reality a different issue to the one being discussed here. That way it will hopefully be noticed by PRT.
01/08/2018 at 6:45 PM #5779701/09/2018 at 5:58 PM #58713Just had a slightly different – unresponsive PRT demo. I was backtesting a strategy and I kept getting a window saying that I had nearly reached maximum resources of the platform. I had one chart open and hardly anything else. No indicator panels at all. PRT was hanging terribly and I had to have a lot of patience to shut it down properly. RAM usage by Java was at 4GB! Disk usage and CPU usage was high too and the laptops temperatures were very high despite the fan going at full blast. As soon as PRT shut down all went back to normal.
01/09/2018 at 6:44 PM #58723Restarted PRT Demo and went off to do something else. Came back and PRT unresponsive again. Able to close some windows and minus some windows down but unable to open a trading system window nor close the whole thing down. Unable to drag and move the only chart open. RAM at 2.17GB. Had to crash stop it with task manager.
01/09/2018 at 7:46 PM #58731…and again. PRT hanging really badly. Able to do some stuff like minus windows down and even open new charts but nothing happens if I click on a spanner, the title of the chart is corrupted and PRT does not close down. Hitting task manager now and restarting laptop to see if that clears something out of the system.
01/09/2018 at 8:14 PM #58735…and again. rebooted laptop after crash stopping PRT for the third time. Restarted and launched PRT. Just one chart. Applied one indicator and that chart hung, Unable to do anything with it. Unable to close PRT down. This is getting annoying.
Top of chart looks like attached image – no title.

Just a suggestion , not sure if it will help but possible uninstalling PRT in control panel so it installs fresh again might help
01/09/2018 at 9:17 PM #58746Sorry to hear of all your troubles Vonasi 🙁
Did you try the Help / Technical Report / Other during any freeze up?
You could try deleting all Java Cache?
https://www.java.com/en/download/help/plugin_cache.xml
I’ve not had any issues today, but I’m going to delete my java cache also.

Thanks another handy tip GraHal .
May i suggest one further thing , export all your code outside PRT and save into file on drive . Just a redundancy incase PRT have have a meltdown and lose all you hard work . It is way easier to reimport into a fresh PRT version than write it all again …
