Thanks for the tips.
I found that on the last time I had a hang up that there were two strategy performance windows from strategies that I have on live demo loaded at start up and hidden under the chart. Hovering on the task bar PRT logo did not show them. I just happened to be able to close the chart this time so saw them. It had obviously saved this as my template. I managed to close those windows and then saved another template and then shut PRT down with task manager. On the next start up all seems to be fine.
01/10/2018 at 6:43 PM #58911Following on from my woes in the ‘Amount of memory approaching the limit.‘ thread I closed PRT demo again and rebooted my laptop. Started PRT demo. Loaded a strategy. Went off back to the desktop, came back to PRT and the chart window had disappeared, the running strategies window had disappeared and I was left with just the top bar and the optimization results window. I was able to close the latter down and open other windows from the top bar but not able to close PRT down as the ‘x’ was completely unresponsive. Java at 1.2GB.
PRT has been completely unusable for me today and I’m starting to get annoyed with it.
01/12/2018 at 8:09 AM #59135….. and after a whole day yesterday of no PRT issues today I started PRT demo up and within the hour it had locked up. I had just stopped two strategies that I was testing live as they were deemed failures and closed manually the two bets that they had open. The running strategies window then lost the right half of the display where all the strategy info is and PRT locked up. None of the items in the drop down bars could be selected and the ‘x’ would not close PRT down. I had two charts up at the time and could move them around and close them down and also close down the running strategies window but everything on the top bar did not respond except to drop menus down. Task Manager crash close yet again.
01/12/2018 at 12:30 PM #59173Still no input (as I can see) from PRT on this issue which is / has been experienced by several of us and probably many more silent members over the past months, years even??
I can’t help thinking that some sort of disconnect / handshaking issue (between PRT Server and PRT Platform on our PC) starts / initiates the freeze issue and from thereon it is all downhill until the PRT Platform is rebooted??
Frustrating thing is we can’t even send a Technical Report at the time of experiencing the Issue … for the reasons outlined above by Vonasi (drop downs don’t function etc etc).
I’d love to know how many staff PRT employ? You kinda get the impression that they must be ‘cut to the bone’ and so can’t pay any attention to what they must consider minor issues??
If above is the case what chance have we got of ever seeing the many improvements implemented that we have suggested on this website and via the PRT official Suggestion Form??
Oh dear I am getting negative again … I’d best get back in my burrow! 🙂
Rant over for today
GraHal01/12/2018 at 12:49 PM #59174I have three levels that concern me.
I. It is mildly annoying to have to keep closing PRT with the task manager and then restart it.
2. It is very, very annoying to lose hours worth of work on a code and have to close PRT with the task manager and then restart it.
3. One day I will be hovering with my finger on the button to close a trade and PRT will be unresponsive and it will cost me money. Maybe a lot of money. Bells and whistles I can live without but a reliable platform for trading is an absolute essential and at the moment I do not have that.

I too have lost coding work which is frustrating to say the least. I save every few minutes as I go now but we really need an explanation from PRT.
01/13/2018 at 11:06 AM #59325…and again. I was working on development of an indicator and PRT just hung. Usual thing drop downs work but selecting item on drop down does not. I did manage to get as far as a blank window when I tried to send a technical report but that was it. I was able to minimize PRT but when I maximized it every window but the top bar had disappeared. Luckily this time I did not lose any work amazingly.
I’d like to know if it is just me having these issues as regularly. Maybe it is an issue with my pc that I need to investigate if it is that I am the only one. So far only a couple of others have hinted at problems.
01/13/2018 at 11:16 AM #59326I’ve had all the same issues as you Vonasi, but not as regular recently. But then again I am not driving my PC / PRT as hard as I used to in the past as do more Manual Trades and less coding / backtesting etc.
Is there any way you could use another PC? Borrow one even for a week? You can get decent ex Lease PCs on ebay for around £100 – £150 … this is what I have / use.
Just a few thoughts as I feel for your plight, having been there myself!
01/13/2018 at 11:40 AM #59329During the last week I experience 2-3 times a new phenomenon, PRT suddenly simply closed down. No error message, just suddenly it is gone. I was running some computations in Matlab while this happened. So it might be linked to that in gods knows which way.
01/13/2018 at 12:06 PM #59332Thanks for your reply GraHal. This laptop is the most powerful of the four I have (the others are definitely not up to running PRT) and as I am currently in Greece most other laptops available here have Greek keyboard layout which is a nightmare. Unfortunately as I live on a boat space and power limitations when off sailing (as well as the salty air!) mean laptops are the only really usable option. I am popping back to the UK in a couple of months so maybe I will pick up something more powerful then. The other half complains that I hog this machine anyway leaving her with the slower laptops and her phone so It might be a good investment anyway!

01/13/2018 at 12:27 PM #59334On the live platform I encounter absolutely no issues. But the Demo – OMG – frozen screens, automatic refresh/reload of all open windows, history data limited to 15k over the weekend and so on.
Started a couple of weeks ago and it’s getting worse I guess.
I use Windows 10 & Windows 7.
Latest Java RT
01/13/2018 at 3:41 PM #59361Well this has been all on Demo which I have been using a lot recently just because I want to keep an eye on how some of strategies on test are working out and behaving. Guess I’ll go back to the complete version and see if things improve….. but first I have to export and then import all the codes I have written over the last week. Is it just me or that a really silly system? Surely Demo and Complete can be made intelligent enough to look in the same place so that anything you create in one is instantly available in the other.
