I have same issue since 6 months ago or earlier.. Ctrl + S and leave PRT Auto exit or Laptop enter sleep mode, the chances to lost is very high…. I noticed this normally happened if overnight (means after time in London 00:00). I didn’t report or feedback to PRT, the best way is to adapt -> quit PRT before sleep 🙂
07/14/2017 at 9:49 AM #40617Is it my imagination or has the 12 hours Auto Quit been removed now? I’m sure my Platform runs for 16 hours + (since last several days?) without Auto Quitting??
Or have I adapted and manual exit before Auto Quit? I deffo am using Ctrl + S lots more now since I proved to myself it works!
07/14/2017 at 11:09 AM #4062807/14/2017 at 11:28 AM #40629I still have the case ongoing with IG/ITF but not getting anywhere fast – have just replied to IG’s email update to me on this today (basically no update/progress) and have asked if they have increased the timeout settings
I am still not convinced CTRL+S or File->Save is properly committing saves if PRT then auto exits but only when you subsequently manually exit and save but if it’s working for you that’s great! (seems Nicolas didn’t want to try out the test I proposed unfortunately but understandable/is inconvenient)
And yes @CKW I manually quit almost after every edit – thankfully I am in ‘trading’ not ‘development’ mode at the moment so am not doing lots of edits but it is a pain when doing lots of small edits to manually quit all the time to be sure/safe as can easily loose track of all the little changes if lose a few hours of work and have to go back in and re-edit
Anyway here’s hoping we can at least get a definite answer from ITF if this is actually by design (!)
07/14/2017 at 12:00 PM #40632For info … my test was Ctrl+S then Manual Exit with NO Save … and my changes were saved when I opened PRT again.
As you say Makhta, maybe result is different if Ctrl + S then allow Platform to AutoExit?
We should all try above two scenarios so we can compare results??
I guess we are trying to make money despite PRT Platform tripping us over and IG / PRT frustrating us re poor customer service?
07/14/2017 at 1:19 PM #40643Further to my post at #40617 … I am getting the ‘saving whirring thingy’ every so often (without me pressing Ctrl+S) and there’s been an update to my Platform on 12 Jul (see attached) and there was an update a few days before that also!
07/14/2017 at 2:01 PM #40647Interesting so something seems to be happening/maybe ITF are finally waking up to the fact something ‘ain’t right’….
Can’t say I’ve seen the saving whirly thing (I have PRT open all day every day pretty much) come up automatically but just checked and yes same – latest update 12th July
06/08/2018 at 4:28 AM #7260506/08/2018 at 8:20 AM #72621After editing code do you press the x in top right corner and say YES to save changes??
I think above is same as Ctrl+S but but not sure now as so long since I was testing this out etc.
I don’t seem to have the losing code issue lately, but then again I’m not coding as much, but also for me I ALWAYS Quit and Save and ALWAYS switch my Platform / PC off before bed so Platform never auto exits.
Another scenario when I lose code is when the PRT Platform freezes and I have to force shutdown (via Task Manager) and if I havn’t pressed the X or Ctrl+S then I lose all my effort / code since last save etc.
06/08/2018 at 9:01 AM #72624The code was definitely saved because I have been running the system live for a year. I went to have a look at the original code not in ProOrder to copy something and there was nothing there fortunately the running ProOrder system still has the code. This has happened on a few other systems. I don’t know when it happened because I don’t check them everyday but it definitely happened.

06/08/2018 at 9:09 AM #7262806/08/2018 at 9:16 AM #72629@Vonasi CTRL+S isn’t going to save you unless they fixed this magic code disappearing act. If the code is important I just copy it to GoogleDocs.
Also on a related note, you should always run a backtest before CTRL+S because I’ve found that if you don’t run the backtest it doesn’t commit it to platform memory so it will save the last backtest in memory and not what’s in the code editor.
06/08/2018 at 9:23 AM #72630@David that is odd if you’ve had it running for over a year – no idea if could possibly be linked but as you may know there was an outage at PRT the other day – a post from them on here replying to me about it was saying about redundant servers etc. – is only a very very wild guess but perhaps some things haven’t replicated properly across between servers or something along those lines… yeh a very wild guess and most probably totally wrong – the safest way to keep code seems to be actually keeping the strategy running!
@Vonasi – I know I’ve gone on about it before but I am no believer in the CTRL+S – very difficult to prove/disprove (until it happens you loose something!) – I only rely on quitting PRT and reopen to properly commit all changes06/08/2018 at 10:19 AM #72639I know I’ve gone on about it before but I am no believer in the CTRL+S – very difficult to prove/disprove (until it happens you loose something!)
So far I have lost nothing (except for when I was having all my PRT freezing issues and then it was only any changes since the last CTRL +S). I just regularly do CTRL +S and close the whole platform down once a day and save on exit. Seems to be working for me.
GraHal may disagree with you on the idea of keeping strategies running to keep them safe as he once lost his running strategies I seem to recall. He got them back in the end after a lot of jumping up and down and throwing his toys out of the pram!
Don’t forget that PRT now also have a sort of backup thing. It is far from perfect but at least you would have some sort of text back up of all your strategies.

06/11/2018 at 3:39 AM #72808@MaxT I run few demo accounts.
When the outage happened the other week my demo account on the PRT IG sponsored account all strategies stopped but this was not the live account where the code has disappeared.
This morning I noticed that one of my other demo accounts (IG direct not sponsored by PRT) was not making any trades so I logged in and all have stopped (around BST Friday 8 June 20:55 ) even better than that, some how one of my systems is -CAD 128,923,578.90 and the account is –$120,824,754.06. How is that even possible, I’m trading 1mini contract at a time and my account should be maxed out? Luckily it’s only demo.
I’ve also attached the closed positions list. Look at the last closed trade Nbr Bars 498? Again not possible. Notice how I received no response from my post about the inconsistent Nbr Bars being 2 or 3 when they should always be 2?
I know I should submit a support ticket right? What for? I never get a response? And I would rather get real support for my live accounts where I don’t get a response either. “Insanity Is Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results.” Albert Einstein.
