I experienced (again) something strange. This morning when I logged into PRT two of my live-strategies (both running on USDJPY) were stopped (yellow triangle). When I clicked on the triangle I got the error message “The system was stopped due an error.”. Well it doesnt say what kind of error.
Both strategies have been running (and trading) for a while without problems.
Anybody experienced similar?
Then I had another incident (2 actually). 1-2 weeks ago one of my strategies had a trade open and suddenly closed it without reason (the position was profitable but didn’t hit a take profit or something). 1-2h after this happened a guy from IG ringed and apologized for the incident and said that my trade was closed because of a bug in there system. PRT stopped the strategy, gave me the yellow triangle and the error message “This trading system was stopped because the broker could not confirm the status of the last order.”.
Now just a few minutes ago it happened again (other strategy though) and this time the position that was closed was losing so it closed with a loss. Now a few minutes later the position would have been profitable. So fact is I lost money because of this premature close. PRT gave again the yellow triangle and the same error message. So far IG has not ringed.
Has somebody experience with this problem? I think it is not really acceptable that positions are closed at random. I lost this time just a few dollars but it next time it could be a few hundred…

It was a system coded for breaking out right away or being stopped out right away. When IG lowered the minimum required stop level intraday due to low volatility I would start the system to minimize losses. Now when the minimum required stop got bigger than my system’s stop the orders were sometimes “not confirmed”.

I don’t think I’ve ever had … “The system was stopped due an error.” … with no error details quoted.
I’ve often been referred to check error details in the Rejection / Cancellations of the Orders List.
It’s all getting scary, whatever next!?

@Despair: Are you willing to share a bit more insight into your system’s timeframe and/or order levels, execution speeds etc…?@Grahal: Any plattform has it’s own “special features”. Usually I would suggest to double check everything but as users our main problem remains: What is everything?
06/27/2017 at 1:43 PM #39217Yes, you get the yellow triangle when for example your order was rejected 12 times because to close to the actual price. I had this too but this is an understandable error.
My two strategies that where stopped on USDJPY are on 15min timeframe, so not super fast. But if Autostrategist had also two strategies on USDJPY stopped then there maybe was an issuewith just USDJPY?
Grahal: When you got the message that the strategy was stopped because missing confirmation from the broker, was there also an open trade closed like it was for me? Stopping a strategy is one thing but closing an open trade is IMO worse. It is just random luck if it exits with a loss or with gains. :-S
06/27/2017 at 2:11 PM #39223As I recall it was when a Strategy tried to open a Trade that I got … This trading system was stopped because the broker could not confirm the status of the last order.
Are you getting the above error when your Strategy tries to cumulate another trade in addition to an already Live Trade.
I will look in more detail when next it happens to me and let you know.
06/27/2017 at 5:05 PM #39236FYI – both my USD/JPY Strategies were running on a 1 hour timeframe and both with wide stops. One of these USD/JPY strategies ran today (after restarting yesterday with no changes) without any problem. I put the original errors down to some issue at the Broker end.
06/28/2017 at 9:19 AM #39268Grahal: When the strategies were closed there was nothing happening. The strategies had an open trade but the price was not close to either TP or SL. The simplied closed without obvious reason and I got the error with the brokr didn’t confirm.
Autostrategist: Same for me. I also have the strategies running again without changes. No problems so far.

07/12/2017 at 3:08 PM #40450I had a strategy (same one am using on many instruments) stop with ‘This trading system was stopped due to an error’ couple of weeks back but it kept the position open with IG whereas it should have closed the position as per PRT settings – thankfully no major price movements had occurred by the time I found out and was able to manually add trailing stop in IG dashboard
I’ve had a support case open with IG/ITF for last week+ and only thing have heard so far is ‘IT finance reported that the strategy was stopped due to the ProRealTime server not being able to retrieve the price’
Sure ok but why did it not close the position as it should have done…?
07/13/2017 at 10:07 AM #40525I had a similar experience. Stupid my had auto-rollover activated and when IG rolled over to the next month contract the strategy was stopped “due external interference” but the position in the new contract remained open without a strategy managing it. This also happened although I specified in the options that PRT should close open trades when a strategy is closed.
I was also lucky that it didnt cause any damage but things like this should not happen. 🙁
07/13/2017 at 11:06 AM #40539Yeh totally agree things like this should not be happening – I am now only working with very small position sizes/very low ££ risk so wasn’t too much of a problem but I am doing this to test out how PRT is really working in a live environment – had the position size been bigger and a significant move on the instrument occurred my trade would have been on with no management whatsoever and that really is not acceptable and I would not be taking it so lightly
I think the problem is the interoperability with IG rather than PRT as they couldn’t be in business still if these things were happening with their own service… (could they?)
