Hi, I tested the Renko automated trading system strategy from the Library on Spot Gold with a brick size of 20 on the weekly timeframe with ProBackTest and manually. (Reverse 5 lots after a swing of two bricks over 10 years) The problem is I got very different results. Based on the ProBackTest results I will not trade the strategy, but based on the results of the manually test I can’t wait.
Maybe I don’t understand the strategy because of my poor programming skills. What I am looking for is an automated strategy which reverse a trade of a specific lot size after two reversed bricks of an adjustable fixed size. The intention is to be always in the market with the strategy. Is this the right strategy for this?

Maybe you are doing something manually that the auto Systems is not doing?
How are you running the strategy manually?? In Demo Forward Test and then placing a manual trade when the strategy places an Auto Trade or what??
03/24/2020 at 3:05 PM #123144Hi,
On my side, i had some problems using renko strategy with IG… big difference between live and demo
I even had my robot ko on the production Platform…
Do you have the same problem ? Who is currently uses renko in production?

What does ‘in production’ mean?
had my robot ko on the production Platform
Do you mean your robot was stopped?
Also which Renko Strategy are you referring to anyway … there are a few we have tried recently on very short TF’s (seconds!)
In Demo Backtest you may be setting an artificially low spread compared to Live Trading (Real Forward Test)?

I simply went back on the charts for ten years and noted the entry and exit dates and the amount of P/L which was won or lost in a spreadsheet to calculate the results per year, trades won/lost, p/l per x time period and so on. Although it was a heck of a job, the results were very good.
I have traded the system live the same way with one lot (Gold) manually for a while, by just reversing the trade after a swing of two Renko bricks.
Best regards from Holland.

If the strategy was optimised with certain set of data then it is likely to fail when you simply set it live out of sync with those original Renko bars.
Attached image is SP500 monthly. One chart starts 10k bars back and the other just 100 bars back. You can play spot the differences!
