Next stupid question:
How can i save my work on a strategy? Usually PRT is autosaving what you are doing but it happened to me several times that the last changes i made were not saved. So is there a save function where one can manually save additionally to autosave?
04/30/2017 at 3:21 PM #34033Not a stupid question at all … the save (not) on PRT is infuriating because if you don’t go File/Save as … then when PRT exits itself with 2 mins notice (after 12 hours usage) and you happen to be on the toilet 🙂 / making coffee / on the phone … all your work is lost!
In my opinion the save Strategy is counter-intuitive because after naming the Strat and seeing it listed with all the others Strats you would think that is enough to save your work, but oh no … you have to do a second save, either Quit/ Save Template or File/Save as …

04/30/2017 at 4:22 PM #3404204/30/2017 at 7:49 PM #34075I’ve not found a way, weird isn’t?
Maybe somebody else can offer a way … let’s see?
Just thought of an idea … dedicate one Template (called ‘Save’?) as the, mmm Save Template 🙂 … then it won’t affect your other Template layout etc, but it will save the Strat you are working on.
I’ve not tried it, just an idea.

05/02/2017 at 6:59 PM #34306I have all but given up on trusting PRT to save anything and have no idea what the save feature is even doing…
Create a strategy – have it running – SAVE SAVE SAVE – come back half hour later and PRT has crashed (has been happening LOADS recently mostly demo but live too – dunno if is problem my end/PRT/IG or not but refusing to get annoyed about it) – open back up and… no strategy listed – no problem if you started it running just copy and paste the code back into a new strategy and save again but if you didn’t run it… back to the drawing board (I also copy/paste into notepad to keep a running temporary copy offline out of PRT this has happened so many ***** times to me I am fed up with it…)
Same goes for indicators – template layout changes – everything/anything I change does NOT get saved… I can’t imagine it is just me/can’t understand why more people are not going on about it really/why it has not been addressed by PRT as to what the ‘save’ actually is supposed to be doing
Only sure fire way is to SAVE then QUIT then relaunch PRT – I now do this every time I make a ‘major’ change (ummm but I am still occasionally caught out and the notepad copy saves me…) – is a pain but much better than second guessing what half the code I spent half the day writing and was ‘just about there with’ was all about…
SAVE – QUIT – RELAUNCH
(seems daft but is the ONLY thing that works for me…)
05/02/2017 at 7:48 PM #3431205/02/2017 at 8:00 PM #34317Hi Eric
Cheers for the that 🙂 I’ve never actually exported any strategies but know is there so is good to be reminded about it – thanks
When am working on a strategy though (for many many hours at a time) and knowing PRT could crash any moment just copying and pasting into notepad provides for a running backup as you are working/creating the strategy if you know what I mean (and also not sure you can export when the coding window for the strategy is open – but yeh can close the strategy and then export then re-open the strategy but copy/paste quicker on the fly for me)
Would be much better if the PRT SAVE feature did just that… SAVE… everything…
05/02/2017 at 8:08 PM #34320I agree MaxT please copy your post above on the Forum below so PRT get to see it.

And / or send direct to PRT using the Suggestion Box here

05/02/2017 at 8:16 PM #34321Eric do you get the STUPID little window attached when you Import a Strat? It’s not a ‘Windows window’, it’s a STUPID PRT Import window?
Its so frustrating trying to find the files you need from a big list … like looking through a letter box! Okay I know I can resize manually (no max min button) but next time I try to Import (could be 5 seconds later) I have to resize again … STUPID LITTLE WINDOW that’s all I can say! 🙂
I can feel another Suggestion Box filler coming on to PRT! hahaha

05/03/2017 at 12:54 PM #34409I think PRT’s suggestion box is overflowing 😉 but yes will do
Looks like you have a resolution issue there GraHal…? the window is ‘proper size’ for me – it almost looks like you have large/oversized text set in the accessibility options in control panel…?
05/03/2017 at 1:14 PM #3441205/03/2017 at 1:34 PM #34415I don’t (didn’t) have (too much) concern about the PRT servers loosing strategies but my QUIT – SAVE – RELAUNCH has just last night (QUIT – SAVE)/this morning (RELAUNCH) FAILED to save a strategy I edited for over an hour yesterday – it just isn’t there! 🙁 but it has been there for a couple of weeks/I just don’t get it I only edited it…
Export here we come… and will refuse to get annoyed/frustrated/angry etc………..(grrrrr) onwards n upwards!
05/03/2017 at 2:04 PM #34424Sorry to hear about your Save but NOT MaxT … I’ve had that happen also. Maybe PRT can recover it for you? Demoralising having to repeat work just to get back to where you were yesterday!
Re Import Screen … this was why I asked on here, I suspected it might be resolution. I use glasses for reading books, but don’t like to use them on the screen as I am on it so much!
I used to use 1024 x 768 res and all was okay, but except its not the monitor native res and so text is a bit fuzzy. So I went over 1900 x 1024 (native res) … text clear, but so small and so yes I have upped various settings.
So it’s not the Stupid Little PRT Window … its stupid old me! 🙂
Yeah I’m going to Export Bots also. I want folders and dates also so its the only way. You watch … we’ll all get set up with exporting and importing and PRT will upgrade the BOT Management Screen!

I’ve just seen though can drag a corner of the window and resize it – can’t normally do that with those kind of windows/file browse pop-up but have you tried that to resize the window bigger?
