This happened two days ago in “real time” when I could not get the sequence correct in a field of the Optimizer window. I payed less attention to it and thought “oh well, a quirk of some (Windows) queueing mechanism, entered the field upside down or whatever I did t get it right and continued.
But today, no markets bugging with my focus, I find this See 1st attachment. The results suddenly don’t fit previous backtests and I can’t understand why. Now look what I captured in one screenshot. It just can’t exist but it does. A 327 I fixed in the Optimizer form is n a later optimization (around RangeFactorNormalB might you be interested) used as 237. Is the whole G-D PRT now dyslectic ?
The fun (not, as I know now) : I pointed out to my son a couple of hours back such a “typo” issue (of which I know I can do that) and he laughed. In this occasion I showed him again and he laughed even more (the subject was : wasting a good Sunday’s time). And then I found this. Yuk.
Blame Java seems easy. Too easy. Then don’t use Java.2nd attachment shows the same enumeration as I did before and how I came to the selection of the 327 number. The result was as expected again. Make that the fixed number (327) and hope for the best this time ?
What’s happening here is freakin’ unbelievable. It is not the same case as me trying to type 123 in a very same (similar) Optimizer field that continuously be printed as 132 (day before yesterday), but it mighty much looks like it.
ProRealTime, get your act together !!!Bug #399. I can’t help it. More tomorrow. 🙂

I also think that I could translate the “period” from French to something which is varying. However :
I was just pointed out (thank you @GraHal) that I had something like Dyslexia in the title because that really is how it went that afternoon. And I do have these (older age) issues, regularly.
Knowing that I am on the track to hand this topic to PRT Support, I figure (no guarantee) that this is what can happen :
- In the field (in the situation I ran into) of the fixed column (left-most column), I enter e.g. 123. What comes from it is 132, no matter how I try.
- The case I noticed it, I recall that by clicking at the appropriate place within the field – and shut off Insert to Override – I managed to have 123 in there after all.
- When you don’t notice this but it happens anyway, it could be that that the wrong value (132) is given to the Optimization Engine, while later (somehow) the field corrects to the typed content (123) after all.
- As a result you have 132 used in the Optimizer and 123 in the field. This is what I showed in the screenshots (but with 327 vs 237).
The topic is half “great fun” because I had been laughing with my son that I again entered a (dyslectic) wrong value, but is not funny at all when you don’t notice it and search for 20 minutes for a result you don’t understand and then come to the conclusion it can’t have been you.
I could (and will) make a dump via Help if it ever happens again, but I have no illusion that what’s to be sought for here is logged by any means – it would prove though, what my screenshots already show.
I feel a relation with my June 22 version (up for me since two weeks now) and something (interrupts ?) which hammer on my keyboard “response”. I mentioned this elsewhere. So when PRT becomes more “volatile”, I can’t type any more. Certain characters just won’t come through in an odd way. And no, it is not the keyboard because other keyboards (even ps2 vs USB) exhibit the same, though with different characters (so go figure). If @Nicolas or another Mod feels he has a spare minute somewhere :
A parameter in the fixed column of the Optimization window turns up with a different value in the Result window
*that* would be a meaningful title, I think. As how the title currently is, it is “nothing”.
I will wait for that before handing it to PRT. Thank you ! -
