Vonasi you say “Yes but I am just pointing out that just day trading is a bad idea.” There in one sentence you have confirmed the OP’s probable belief.
The emphasis in that sentence should be on the ‘just‘. If we ‘just’ then we fail to diversify. Otherwise known as all our eggs in one basket. It does not mean do not ever put eggs in baskets.
01/15/2018 at 9:59 AM #5950501/15/2018 at 6:32 PM #59576I’m up >200% last year, mainly manual trading stocks. Drawdown were large tough. I’m involved in financial markets since I’m 20, but only 10 years later becoming succesful. I paid around €60k commission to my broker last year. Bottome line, I have a high hit ratio but close too soon profits and too late loosers. As regards with automated solution, I run a few algos bit only one is constantly profitable. I still have a job, but hope to quit it. The advantage of working howver is to force you to be patient, which I’m not given the fees I’m paying. I miss time to develop more automated strategies, and despair that some evolution of PRT are too long to come (multi TF, pro orders on existing positions, array …)
01/15/2018 at 7:34 PM #59579I think a very important point has been made in this thread about solely day trading and it is such a shame to see Vonasi and BritVegas mock the OP for asking such an important question.
….and I think that a very important point is that I am not mocking the OP for asking this question.
You might note that I was the first to answer him and try to assist him and the OP thanked me for that assistance – so why would I then go on to mock him? What I think BrisVegas was saying in his straight talking, say it as it is, Australian manner is that this is certainly not ‘the most important question’ and that time spent on this subject would be better spent developing trading skills and learning to program strategies. Having said all that I’m off now to do just that…..
01/17/2018 at 6:47 PM #59726I can just see Brisvegas and Vonasi in the Dragons Den now:
“So we know you have read dozens of books and are learning to code but what is the profitability of day trading as a sector?” Dragon
“I dont think that question should even be asked and is certainly not that most important question” Brisvegas
“Yes I agree nobody can surely think thats the most important thing about investment” Vonassi
“Err well that question tells us everything we need to know about your approach to business and profitability -we are all out as that is what we base our investment on and if you cannot demonstrate profitability then we will not invest our time and money” Dragon
No money raised for the investment but will raise millions for Comic relief as a joke answer and the shortest pitch ever!
To be fair you both then tried to assist the OP a little but the initial remark showed a lack of business acumen.
01/17/2018 at 6:50 PM #59727It would be easy to poke fun at your posts all day long. Maybe it is a difference in culture but I am old fashioned and believe in showing fellow members courtesy and good manners.
Anyway I wish you both a profitble happy future.

Knock yourself out .. Hypocrisy right there , i,m not pretending to be a saint but you certainly are . Dont be so easily offended by one line in a forum .. chill out
Really ? All this angst over this ” This is far from the most important question in this forum in fact it shouldnt even be here .. There ive said it … Now back to the code … ” I thought this was a coding forum ..
01/19/2018 at 9:45 AM #59860I thought this was a coding forum ..
Yes, it is. In almost 2 years of the forum, I only moderate 2 or 3 times discussions, so please stay focused on the really important things, thank you guys! 🙂
