Hi everyone, I’m having issues when getting my system ready for automatic trading, I have selected a %trailing stop but the pro order function gives an error message and says that the trailing stop can only be applied in $ amounts or points. Is there a way to get around this and specify the trailing stop in % ???

Hi RGOD, in % of what? 🙂

The %TRAILING instruction refer to a trailing stop x percent from average position price. Is this what you want for your trailing stop?

    Hi Nicolas,

Yes I wanted to set a %trailing stop of the opening position price and then maintain this trailing % as the position remains open, perhaps stepping up/down when the position moves a set amount. At the moment the error message on PRT just says that it cannot be in % but in currency or point values.

I wrote an article about implementing a trailing stop by code into a trading strategy right here: http://www.prorealcode.com/blog/trading/complete-trailing-stop-code-function/

Of course this one do not deals with percentage of retracement from the average position price. If it’s what you want, I can make a code snippet for it, just ask.
