Thanks all for your feedbacks and advices, more trade and still differences
@GraHal: I’m on CFD Dax and 1 minute, would bid-ask work with CFD?
- since I’m testing I’m using order of 1 CFD contract of 1€, why would it be slippage then
- isn’t the broker supposed to fullfill, there is not “carnet d’ordre”, no volume, it is a contract between trader and broker
- what would happen if I would go for 100 contracts, the last one will get a 10% worse difference?
@Eric & Nicolas: thanks for the advice, sound very rights but it requires different strategy then- one issue is the delay but the second, getting slippage or what ever it is, is much worse / costly and again I don’t understand why
- and again looks there is no way to backtest
- and no alert from ProRealTime about those nasty differences between BaktTest and AutoTrading
- and no answer about thot differences when you ask them about it
THIS IS PUSHING TO MOVE TO ANOTHER SOLUTION/COMBINATION WHICH LOOKS TO BE INTERATIV BROKER (bigger volumes less slipage) AND MULTICHARTS (allows for using multiple shares/indexes and multiple time units in one single strategy and code stay on your PC), moreover when escalating an issue at MC they just jump on it to solve by any means and don’t they “we can’t work on it if you don’t give your code”, didn’t try yet with IB
Have a nice WE
04/22/2017 at 1:46 PM #3294504/22/2017 at 1:54 PM #32946What Market / Instrument were the Trades in and how close were the stops to Price?
Yes the Indicator Bid-Ask Band works on CFD.
I use it all the time, very useful. Helps me to judge if the price if Price is going up or down even when no increase in candlestick body. I guess IG have it all linked to the wider market and volume and the software links to Level 2 Orders etc.
I like to think I’m playing them at their own game when the spread widens UP, I buy and then the candlestick body widens and bang I’m in profit already!!! When trading on 6 second timeframe it’s all in and out … love it!! 🙂

04/22/2017 at 2:18 PM #32947@GraHal: I’m on CFD Dax 1 min (Allemagne …)
- I always take care of respecting the 4 points (business hours) distance when it is an exit stop, I don’t think I’ve anymore trouble with that, I’m not aware of any minimum distance required for entry order, I still do not use trainling stop as they carry unsolved issues
- I’ll look at Bid-Ask stuff, can it be used into Auto-Trading code?
- I still don’t understand how 1 CDF contract at 1 € could suffer any slippage
- Does this reflect difficulty for IG market just to do basic CFD trades correctly?
@Eric: thanks for that interesting 2014 article, I do like CFD and market competition provide nice choice of provider, the (significant) trader I know look talking about IB, what do you think about that one?04/22/2017 at 7:24 PM #3297204/22/2017 at 9:19 PM #3299504/23/2017 at 8:22 AM #33005@Grahal: thank you
- yes this is real trades for several weeks and months, and losses compared to winning backtests
- I provide each time transactions details and graph to PRT showing slippage delays … comparison to backtest
- being PRT customer since 2009 (and debugger and providing suggestions) should have made me credible
- but still they don’t investigate those real concrete issues
- they want the codes where MultiCharts never try to force you to give it
- actually the code has nothing to do with slippage and delays and why slippage for 1 contract of 1 €, no answer !!!!!!!!!!
- do you think I should move to Interactiv Broker now?
04/23/2017 at 12:00 PM #33039IB account don’t support ProOrder. I understand that you do not want to open your source code, but it’s the only way you’ll get exact information and potential refund. How can a mechanic repair a car without opening the hood? Believe me, if they ask you this authorization, that’s because they are used to potential problem that could lead to the behavior you have with your code. No one will steal your code!
Your code are encrypted with SSL, server side. That’s why PRT ask you to decrypt them. You’d better ask you why does Multicharts don’t ask you this authorization? 🙂
04/23/2017 at 12:31 PM #33053JL as a starter (before PRT) maybe let Nicolas only see your code (we know we can trust Nicolas!). He may just spot something that lead to your problem.
Nicolas can be contacted direct (no need to paste code on here) as I’m sure you know?

please see attached, short at 298, single stop loss at 9.2 point, BackTest extits at (298+9.2=) 307.2 while AutoTrading exit at 308.5
you’ll see the graph, trading is in 1 min but the graph shows in 1 sec
- no need to see the code to understand AT just doesn’t work properly and execute (at least stop) orders too late
- I’m a S/W engineer, now 8 years (full time) on PRT
- I founded a ASP internet start up from 0 to 23M€ in 5 years, 18% EBIT, 100 of thousands lignes of code !!
The issue with PRT is they are Silo organisation so customer support guys are afraid by there management so they don’t pass any claim without the code but this is not how the world works nor competition
I’m a reliable S/W developpers, I brought many bugs detailed description to PRT since 2009 with dedicated code and “espace de travail” showing issues effortless to support people to pass it to R&D guys, by the way with absolute ZERO return not even a single thank you, same with many improvment suggestions, as a customer you are just a piece of shit, so I stopped any debug feedback and keep my more than a page suggestions
The management is just an old world kind of one and they make me loosing money while backtests say it should make profit
IB doesn’t support ProOrder but they support API from trading station like MultiCharts, which PRT does not (plus some other impressive features…)
I like PRT-IG but if they still keep not telling me why they are not able to execute a CFD order 1 contract 1 € on time I’ll have to move on with all my group, know the problem I could ge around it as I already did many times
attached is the PRT code, none visible lines are ONLY doing Condition1 & 2 calculations
today’s exit issue was only a stop loss execution issue, so I don’t see how the code can play a role there
04/24/2017 at 4:27 PM #33206by the way I suggested Customer Advisory Board or other usual market practices to acheive outstanding level of development
guess what : they just never even answer to my proposal
a single thank you but we can’t go that route would just have been polite but they leave in such a luxury they can afford not answering (long time loyal) customers mails
I brought Futures and other customers, same not a single thank you
One English accent guy called me couple of times to solve issue, was very effeicient, beside him not got any single call in 8 years
they just shut off you account as soon as they can
1 user thanked author for this post.
04/24/2017 at 9:01 PM #33247At the risk of inflaming the issue, I tend to agree with @ JL1640. I think basic execution of code like the example he has expressed should be addressed pretty quickly by the support staff. I think the issue of providing the code is a bit of a red herring if I’m honest. I have provided PRT with a full suite of data including screenshots, underlying code etc etc a couple of months ago when I raised the issue of inconsistencies between Live and Backtesting and the erratic slippages involved in execution (even AFTER allowing 2 points + for live market slippage) and they have not replied or addressed the issue. I suspect that the problem is perhaps a bit beyond the means of fixing for the time being hence the supposed lack of feedback.
My solution to this (unfortunately after a bit of cost) was to stop trading the strategies that require lower timeframes and/or scalping as these are the ones ones that would suffer the most from this execution problem. When you are trading on a longer timeframe, the odd point here or there does not make a difference as it does not contribute to a winning trade becoming a losing one and vice versa. It’s not ideal having to cut down on your strategies but in the end we have to work with what is currently in front of us 🙂
In an ideal world yes I would love for these issues to not be present but the way I personally see it is that the benefits of PRT (and the members on here) far outweigh the current drawbacks of the platform so I am happy to put up with it 🙂 Plus, they are at least pushing forward improvements and functionality. But everyone has their own requirements and tolerances of course, this may not be suitable for all.
04/24/2017 at 10:55 PM #33255JL1640 and manel I commiserate with you over your poor Customer Service from PRT. A few simple changes in procedures would make such a difference to user experience.
Did you send via the Help / Tech Support Form Manel?
It annoys me that there is no box to tick that provides a copy back to your own email or, better still, an automatic copy sent to own email with a Support Ticket number.
In the absence of a response from PRT – when it happens again – one is left thinking … did I send that in? what did I say? shall I send it again?
One can’t help thinking … is this a convenient way for PRT to ‘let requests slip through cracks’?
Is Tech Support any better if Platform is provided direct from PRT (not via IG)?
GraHal
04/25/2017 at 2:27 AM #33270Hi Grahal – Yes, I sent the request via the form. My responses (when they do respond) come via IG as I trade through them and the platform forms always seem to go through them first.
As you rightly stated, the issue of not receiving a confirmation email with your written query is well annoying as there is no way of you to keep track of what was sent. Furthermore, when IG/PRT have written to me saying “Can you please send us the code or explain etc etc….” I always have to write back to them asking “What query are you referring to ?” as the email they send you never has my original query attached at the bottom. This is such a simple thing to fix on their side and could help users have a much better experience but the suggestion never gets implemented. In fact I received an email from PRT today saying “Your issue has been resolved, please let us know if it occurs again”. Ummm….. What issue ? As there is no record of my query on the email nor a reference number, I am left guessing as to which one of my queries sent 2 mths ago has been “resolved”. Madness 🙂
04/25/2017 at 12:50 PM #33322Yeah I had all this out with both IG and PRT when I first started using PRT … I could not believe that they both lack basic Customer Service norms such as we are discussing (confirmation emails, Ticket Numbers etc). I have learnt to be more tactful since using this website (from Nicolas example! :)) as I am not a ‘natural nice person’ and I don’t mind confrontation! 🙂
After saying to IG and PRT things like … This is madness” You HAVE to do something about this and calling them dinasaurs etc … I finally got it escalated up the management chain and the reply came back, the gist of which was … Reason we don’t copy previous emails into replies is due to security … so hackers can’t get the full story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (IG reply didn’t show all the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
