Other than a Yes to above … further discussion re Annoyances etc to be entered in ‘Odd Happenings’ Topic. So if I post results on the trading without indicators thread and just post ideas etc on US30 analysis on this thread does that keep everything right?

This Thread is also be for analysis of other Instruments, we need to enter which, at start of any comment, e.g. FTSE 100, US30, DAX, US500 etc.

Think of how hard that would be! same with markets, if you have a belief on a market going a certain place, even though price starts going the opposite way we hang in there until we need to start using that religion and praying for it to come back! moving stop losses in the hope it returns and talking to ourselves to try to confirm our previous analysis and all the while price just keeps going against us. Go with the flow of the markets, if you get it wrong be quick to admit to yourself that your original belief has to be wrong at this moment in time and do something about it! even if its reducing the size of the position until the market swings. Is better to take less of a loss than hang on to a false belief and empty the account trying to prove the market wrong.
Just my own opinion
IMO/IME self-confidence plays a super large role. Additionally it is an adrenaline thing that makes you decide right. Or which makes you dare things (with confidence) which you otherwise wouldn’t attempt.
And indeed, once in a while you’d wish adrenaline did not exist.1 user thanked author for this post.
01/24/2023 at 11:22 AM #208070Why are you not trading the Dax at this time, but the Dow? It’s trading time for the Dax. The Dow only opens in the afternoon and now has a wide spread.
Maybe somewhere this boiled up in your head ? The DAX’s behaviour is exactly the same as the large American financial futures. Hence without the latter, the DAX isn’t going anywhere (try Independence Day and such). So the DAX too is going to move when the US opens.
In my experience there is one exception : the closure of Europe (stocks). In our time this is 17:30 and this is the typical time to trade the DAX (and other European futures) because usually then it “starts to happen” which is most often the other way than the US futures as well (you can’t depend on that but at least at this time the correlation vanishes).
Btw, nothing has a “wide spread” as such, if you only don’t trade with IG …
(spread with IB is always the same)And attacking spread is for scalpers, right ? or Autotraders. 🙁

Not much time to keep a record of conditions to enter, exit and what went wrong or right as recommended for a Trading Journal.
I guess above is the ‘sense of humour’ reference … made me smile anyway!
I’ve never kept a Journal either, not saying it’s not beneficial to do so, but it’s all down to our personalities?
Anybody use / record in a Trading Journal?

01/24/2023 at 12:25 PM #208097A video screen recorder is a good idea with video software to look back at after the trading day (mine was on laptop) haven’t got it on this computer. You can speed the video up so its not a drag to watch its actually great to watch speeded up!
I like the playback feature on trading view also but I’m not paying a subscription to get full access. the price is about 10 points different from cmc though on the screen
01/24/2023 at 12:35 PM #208098One of my friends who got me hooked on trading years ago, we used to have a great laugh on the phone while trading, every time we were on opposite trades he was going down and I was going up. Thinking back on its amazing because even though we were on opposite trades we would both lose money. made me think and that’s why I think I like to scalp
His favourite sentence was …. stop losses are for the weak, didn’t believe in stop losses and it was just a matter of time before he wiped his account out, its cheaper learning that lesson from someone else!

When I have a strategy that mostly loses on Longs and Shorts, I reverse the entry code just as a test … and it still loses! 🙂
