Version 11 Templates

The simple task of naming Templates seems alot more complex now that I have switched to V11. Or I am missing something?

On V10 the F no in the Templates was allocated according to the first number/letter of the title given to the Template eg 1 m was allocated F1 if your templates were F2 3m and F3 20m.

In V11 it appears that it allocates an F no by the order in which you create them, with no obvious means of re-naming them to get them to be in any easy logical order.

I can’t find anything in the PRT literature to solve this minor but organisationally important, to me, riddle! Can someone enlighten me?

I created all my 12 templates individually after pro-longed failure to get them transferred via my broker to PRT and now I have them in an order that is confusing and difficult to simply remember. Is there any way of not having to start again?

I am showing half of my screen for privacy reasons – see 1st attachment.
You get there by means of Settings – Platform and in the search box type Shortcut. See attachment #2 at the mouse arrow.

In there you can assign what you want (I suppose this is no News ?)
    Wouldn’t that help you ?

    Peter,

Thank you very much indeed, not only for the solution but the speed at which you provided it.

It beats me that it was so simple but yet so hard to find it – because the context talks of using gaming machines. And to my late middle aged mind it should say “Reset F No’s”. Shortcuts sounds like a cross country bicycle path!!

    Thank you again.

@iac381, thank you for your kindness.

Now this is out of the way, although off topic I have another gotcha for also younger minds, related to your original confusement :
    Those freakin’ F keys are assigned automatically. Thus, you may notice that while you make a new Template, an F key is assigned to it. Now, I am not exactly sure when this happens, but it surely can;

Watch the moment thet F5 is assigned. I mean, how often do we use that on a random day ? Me ? often. For example to refresh this page in order to see whether a new replay is there. However, because of the smartness in the PRT charts (really so), they get the focus without you really being aware of that. Now use F5 again and …

… there goes your platform right into that old one. And you will lose the settings (form positions etc.) you possibly just made.
Although … Look at the attachment …

The mouse pointer is over the option “Undo last Loading” (Main Menu – File). Funnily enough I discovered that option only this morning. I just tested it, and … it even works ! Thus, if you abusively load a template (like pressing the wrong buttons), using that option just restores the previous Template including changed settings you did not save.

    Have fun !

Possibly you refer to the Stream Deck ? (see attachment)
If not, please skip. But if so, this is not really a gaming machine (my son doesn’t want to use it although we have a couple of them over here :-)).

This is a general device very often used in broadcasting rooms, It is also used by vloggers and their picture-in-picture assessments; by means of pressing buttons (which can be assigned to any operating system action), they change what they want to show, probably their nose always remaining in your face. Anyway …

This device seamlessly integrates with PRT (V11.1). You can put your PRT “actions” under a button and the small buttons (which are OLED displays) can even show real time charts. With the press of a button you can trade or exit. Or increase a position – whatever you want.

Because I don’t like gaming machines myself, I don’t use it for PRT. So to each their own.

It actually says “..if a gamepad is connected..” which is a concept I have no understanding of!! Although I understand that you can trade through gaming machines, I have no experience of them, nor am I about to start ‘gaming’ in my mid-late 60’s!! Its hard enough trading on big screens that I can just decipher!

Yea, see attached. So that is what you referred to.

I think this text tries to tell us something like : “hey, be careful; if you are stealing the fast PC of your kid there could be a gamepad (like joystick) connected. Don’t touch that or you will lose the money for his/her next 50 costing Steam update !”.
To ensure you know what I am talking about, see attachment #2. That’s our general in-box for what I tend to call spam.

Possibly someone at PRT thinks there should be a modern twist to trading and youngsters. And who knows it’s a good thing for them. Attachment #3 is the house in-box of our son. The title tells as much as “More  and more youngsters start investing in stocks; when do you start ?” … spam from his bank. Really.

‘gaming’ in my mid-late 60’s!! Its hard enough trading on big screens that I can just decipher!

Don’t worry. All you need to do really is ask your wife whether it would be allowed to have again bigger screens. Tell her that they will pay for themselves within a couple of days. Next cause that to be reality. With some self-confidence it will work out for sure.
    🙂
