Hi everyone.
I have spent the last few weeks trying to make ProRealTime load faster. I have googled it, contacted support and even bought a new computer but it really hasnt changed anything. It occurred to me that maybe this is just normal. How long should it take to load ProRealTime? At the moment it is taking approx 1-1.5 mins to get started.
I’m running 64 bit windows 10 on a new desktop computer. My computer is an i7 8 core with 32 GB ram. My internet speed has a 8.2Mbps download and 0.8Mbps upload. I’m located on the Gold Coast in Australia. I’m using Google Chrome but Ive also tried firefox.
So how long should it take to start PRT?
Thanks
Alan

Yeah that is about same as mine takes to load, I will time it later and let you know.
If you think 60 to 90 seconds is a long time … wait until you start backtesting! 🙂

How about opening another tab first before you click to open PRT and then switch to the other tab while PRT v11 loads?
Switch to other tab using keyboard shortcut? Would that work?
07/04/2020 at 11:44 AM #13838007/04/2020 at 9:35 PM #138423I thought something may have been wrong with my files but maybe its just normal. It seems to average about 1min 28 secs to load. Java doesn’t seem to load until the last few seconds so I thought it might be that.
ProRealTime is the best charting package that I’ve ever used but the loading time is really slow. I regularly get the white splash screen “Are you having any issues starting ProRealTime?” so I assumed this wasn’t normal.
Reloading the software doesn’t make any difference.
07/06/2020 at 7:31 AM #138519Hello,
I just tried on my V11 also, I have computer specs a bit under yours ( 16go Ram), same for the rest.
I did 48sec47.Based on the information you gave us. I believe that your connection is a bit slow to launch the platform faster. Usually, ProRealTime suggests I download the platform again ONLY when my connection is slow.
It might also be security settings that might prevent that.Could you try on a more stable connection? ( I have 15mo/s ( it’s still low)) Usually I work on a 100 mb/s
Hope you’ll find the solution!
Good luck!1 user thanked author for this post.
07/07/2020 at 7:13 AM #13860407/02/2021 at 10:01 AM #172951PRT is slow in loading chart even with best internet speed and computer. It’s slow in the sense that – if you want to flip through lots of stocks to see if there is a setup, then PRT may not be the best platform. Platforms like MT5 and Amibroker etc load quickly, probably store the chart data on the computer, not sure.
Speed could be an area PRT may want to look. If you are trading stocks, and have 100s of them on list that need to be looked at visually, PRT can give hard time. Pulling data from internet each time a chart is loaded is probably the reason. Hopefully PRT will improve this or come up with something that can be installed and data does not need to be pulled each time chart is loaded.
This is a real problem esp. with stocks trading.
07/02/2021 at 3:50 PM #172990After spending a lot of time trying to improve the time that PRT takes to load I eventually gave up. I tried Firefox, Chrome and Edge and every time PRT would take so long to load that it really became an issue. I liked PRT so much that I even bought a new computer but even having a really fast computer didn’t help. I now use TradingView which is really fast and very good. I prefer PRT but the loading speed is just way too slow. It regularly took about 1.5 mins to fully load up. I tried tech support but in the end I just gave up. PRT is really good but unfortunately for me it’s just takes too long to load every time I want to use it.
07/02/2021 at 5:26 PM #172999How many times a day do you (would you have done) load up PRT on average?
Just asking out of interest as I guess we all use the Platform in different ways, but for me most times for me, it PRT is loaded once per day and then it is on all day.
07/02/2021 at 5:34 PM #173000IF its multi-chart setups, it takes half a minute or so for me. Some load slower than this. If the market is open, it takes a lot longer (US market especially).
It is not a problem if not frequently switching between instruments. If moving from one stock to next to visually scan the pattern, PRT is a headache. People use different methods, and the speed could be fine for many but PRT speed should be judged on the needs of those who need it to be faster not based on those who are ok with it. Comparing with TV, it’s a lot slower.
If you are monitoring 100 stocks on a scanner and want to visually look at them one by one, its a headache with PRT as moving between stocks take longer than visually analysing setup each.
07/02/2021 at 5:52 PM #173002Is attached what you mean … clicking on the results of a screener?
The results chart loads up in a separate window (see attached bottom right) as fast as I can click on any result showing.
I must have read you wrong and your slow loading is when you are doing something different than above?
07/04/2021 at 10:15 AM #173083Interesting …
My account with 50 or so charts on-screen loads in 39 seconds (it could depend a but on the load of the PC).
My other account with 4 charts loads in 29 seconds. So the individual chart loading takes some time, yes.In either situation, asking for a new ticker from within one of the lists, the chart (chained with 3 others with different time frames) loads instantly (make it 0,5 secsonds).
There is no single way that I would find PRT slow or sluggish from whatever angle.
Because I too worked with something like 10/0,8 I know that it is not really internet-speed related. BUT … it would be latency related IMO. And the roundtrip latency from Australia to over here, well, is not the very best of course. Actually it is the very worst. 🙂
Why the UK also would be slow ? … BREXIT ? haha … no idea.I am quite confident it is processor (CPU) related. A while back I changed from a 6/12 core I7 to a 10/20 core Xeon Scalable. It makes all the difference in the world for the “air” the PC has. For loading speed it still does not matter that I could notice. The odd thing : my son next to me, also has am I7 but it is 8 years or so older. It would work with an older type of DDR memory (DDR3 instead of DDR4). Chipset is different. And his loading time is awful. I never measured it, but I reckon it could be the 90 seconds. His latency is the same as mine (4-5ms) so in this case it can’t be that. His general response (in PRT) looks to be the same as mine. Not sluggish at all.
So go figure.
11/26/2021 at 9:41 AM #182314The PRT tech support is horrible. If a chart cannot be loaded and you seek support from a service provider who is taking money from you every month and you don’t get it, its sign of bad customer service. They dont value customers. In my case, charts don’t load for hours. I am using fastest internet in the country. Checked with ISP and did some tests, it appears that PRT server keeps rejecting request. COntacted PRT, they dont bother to respond to try to use their tech support. No idea dynamic IP address is causing the issue, such as OPTUS in Au or something else. Connecting via mobile then works. Changed the modem, asked internet provider to check it and test show its not internet provider or internet issue. Its PRT server issue. Provided evidence to PRT, they don’t seem to give a sh…it. Its so annoying when broker is singed up with such company and you are using that broker. PRT knows this therefore doesn’t care. Even a few seconds load time is too much these days, some platform load instantly. Its like building the best car in the world that won’t start. Its a joke. PRT should look into how they handle customer complaint and fix it.
Any suggestions idea would be great
